It may be a rhizome I planted last year that didn't take...or maybe it did. I found out after "it didn't take" that it is very invasive, but I can't remember what it was! Oh the joys of middle age!
Thanks for any help you can give,
Reeny
Do you know this invasive plant?
I don't know what it is, but it looks like a young tree or shrub, not something that would have come up from a rhizome.
Thanks ecrane. Is it safe to say that I could just dig it up?
I have no idea what it is, if you didn't plant anything there besides the rhizome then it's definitely not what you had wanted in that spot, but the birds occasionally plant nice things for you. I saw that you'd posted this on the ID forum so I'd wait and see what they say it is first before you pull it up. All I knew was it didn't look like something that came from a rhizome.
I think I'd get it out pronto...do I see eggs on the underside of a leaf to the left side???!!! Yikes!
