My "older" Mantis Model 20 with Echo engine shows on the engine a recommended mix of 6 oz of 2 cycle motorcycle/chainsaw oil to one gallon of gas. A packet of 2 cycle Echo oil ( 1.5 oz) indicates add it to one gallon of gas. A Quart of 2 cycle Motorcycle/chainsaw oil states add 4 oz per gallon ( 32:1) or 2.5oz per gallon (50:1). HELP PLEASE ! Whats the correct ratio mixture for this Mantis Model 20. Thanks for any help.
Tiller Mantis 20 Question
When in doubt, I'd follow what it says on your engine. The 2 cycle oil that you're buying now probably has directions that were written for current model engines which may have different requirements than your older model, or they may be written for use with motorcycles and chainsaws rather than your Mantis in the first place. I'd say the people who made your engine and put that recommended mix on it were in the best position to know what was appropriate for that particular engine.
I'm pretty sure Mantis has a website with a "help" link or an email address you can write to for the correct answer.
A lot of older 2 cycle motors require 16:1 which is what your particular engine requires. Both oil and engines have changed dramatically, trying to cut down on the pollution emitted by 2cycle machines. The 16;1 machines were designed to use natural petroleum base oil. The 50:1 machines are designed for synthetic oil.
