My Stella de Oro has had a lot of blooms and now it has almost quit. There are large seed pods on it, I would guess. Should I cut them off so the daylily will save its strength to rebloom?
Deadheading daylilies
I would do it for aesthetic reasons alone.
I cut off the seed pods along with the stem on mine. It gives them incentive to continue blooming for you the rest of the summer.
yes, I cut mine also stem and all and you should get more blooms, not as much but you should get some.
They take a rest between bloom cycles. How long have yours been in the ground? They need dividing and the soil needs to be amended every few years. Is something growing that is increasingly shading them?
