Could somebody send some sun out to the Northeast, I'm getting down in the dumps with all this rain, and I can't get my irises planted! :(
anybody else building an ark??
I'll trade you all the sun you want for some of that rain!
It's a deal, Naturelover!
I agree with NatureLover1950. Can we split it? I don't want too much, but I'll put in an order for lets say two days a week?
ill trade sun for rain too we are 11ft down in our lakes
Isn't that alway the way, those who need it don't have and those who have it can't get rid of it.
We've never had this much rain. The floods literally eliminated homes (FEMA and the state are trying to help). There is a lake missing in Wisc. Dells due to a road-dam being washed out from so much water. And yet my biggest problem is the stupid Japanese Beetles.
Oh man! And here we are having to water our gardens just to keep them from burning up! I have a friend over in Minden, LA, who is having the same problem. I have to finish mowing our grass today and the heat index will be at least 103. I would almost be happy to mow in the rain--it would be a lot cooler!
Wow! Who sent the sun today?? I owe you some rain! I'll send it right off! Was it you, Naturelover? Or was it Zhinu, or Imzadi? heck I'll send rain to all of you, we have it to spare! And Duck, I'm thinking you can swim? ;) lol
Hey, thanks Lynnie. Is that where that 30 second shower came from just a while ago?
Not enough rain here - VA -- send some our way -- we DID get a steady deluge the other day but mostly we've just had lightning, winds and nothing else but hot hot hot and humid.
I would luuuuuv to make a trade for some of your rain. Hey I'll even pitch in some heat and humidity! lol
Lin
We had rain all around us today but all we got out of it was that 30-second splash and dash :-( Got heat and humidity to spare here to!
I guess were actually significantly short on rain this year, which surprises me since we had such a cold wet spring.
Ok, I'll do my rain dance faster.....

:o) You do that!
I'm doing my rain dance too! We actually have a 40% chance today. I'll be surprised if we get any of it though.
My DH and I were talking this morning and he said we haven't had any measurable rain since May 15th. He keeps a calendar of the rainfall.
Weatherman said we could see 100 deg. today. Luckily we have a nice breeze and that helps a lot.
Lin
Wow Dancey, someone who's worse off than us! We keep track of our rainfall too and we've had just a little over 1 inch this month. I'm having to water LOT'S of things and it sure does add to my workload. Glad I'm retired! Too bad y'all couldn't have gotten some of that rain from Dolly. Seems to be the way of it--too much in some places and not enough in others. We're having at least 100 degree days too. Where is fall?
Neat 4" this month, but we didn't like Aug. '07 drought either.
Thank you we got a shower, not enough to do any good, but makes me happy.
Nature I don't know where fall is but I'm sure ready to see it! ;)
It was well over 100 deg. here today. The breeze in the afternoon feels like somebody turned on a blow dryer on high heat.
Lin
As I said to someone else down your way today. Yikes! and you live there why ;o)
we still need it
It didn't come today.
Shoot...we got 2 thunder & lightening storms, really crazy ones. I must have done the wrong rain dance! :(
Dancy,
I know what you mean about that blow dryer! Our heat index is supposed to be between 105 and 110 today (actual temp 101).
Zhinu--lot's of us live down here because we HATE being cold, LOL!
Send some to Tn., too!
I watched the weather report for our area this morning. Up to 100 deg. all week long. I've never used my umbrella for anything but rainy days and shading my baby plants but I think I'm going to start using it for the SUN!!
Lin
Supposed to be that here, too, but it hasn't made it yet today. Really muggy out there!
I'm having to get out veeeerrry early in the morning and late in the evening for any gardening I need to do. I honestly believe it's so hot that even if it did try to rain, it would evaporate before it could reach the ground, LOL.
It was 90's here, "chance" of thunderstorms, hasn't happened yet

Great weather, sunny & sorta cool this moring. Visting daughter & family to the beach--DH & me to the weeds.
We got some "rain" today if you want to call it that, but at least it isn't 80+ degrees.
zhinu--80?!?!? I'll trade with you--we've been at least 100 every day for a week with several more days to go yet and the heat index has been 105 to 110. 80 would feel like springtime!
It's been 95 here all day, having a cool flash!!
NatureLover1950 - That's why I live in the North. I'm completely useless after about 95 degrees; if I'm not in water then I'm unconscious. I'd land in the hospital at 110, if not from the temp then from the air conditioning making it so I couldn't breathe. I like 75 to 85 degrees for summer with and average of 4 to 8 days of rain, preferably actual rain not sprinkles, a month. I get the temp most of the time, the rain is hit and miss.
LOL zhinu--I live down here because I HATE being cold! It's a good thing we have so many different climates in this country for all the varying likes/dislikes. And I can handle the AC!
NatureLover1950 - Everyone has a "home" and it would really suck if we all wanted to live the same place. I can stand the cold, to a point, it's easier to put on clothes, and you can only take off so many. It's also easier to heat than cool. I couldn't stand Alaska either though.
We rarely get much below freezing, our record low was -7 degrees and that was in 1972, and I can't remember it being below 15 degrees, though I'm sure it happened. Our normal low is about 30 degrees; our record high, as for as I can tell, was 104 degrees in 1981. Generally our high for the year is 100 +/- and that only one or two days a year. We average 18 inches of snow a year. Usually it snows and sticks, if it sticks, for maybe two days. I'd say we get about ten days of snow on the ground a year. I remember in January 2004 we got around 6" and it stayed for about a week and that was a big deal; like other parts of the country getting 6'. So I'll take an 85 degree temperature shift over the course of the year with generally mild summers and winters.
Our average according to here http://climate.fizber.com/washington-climate.html is 77/31 average high/low, 50" rain, 18" snow, and 164/136 rain/sun days. Vicksburg is 90/39 average high/low, 49" rain, 2" snow, 104/215 rain/sun days. Looking at it that way we're not much different, I'll keep the rain and you keep the 90 degree average high. :o)
All kidding aside, you're right. Actually, I think Washington state would be a nice place to live if I ever wanted to leave Mississippi. But like so many people, I've lived here for so many years I just accept what we have. My family is all here and that's a very important factor for me. I agree 100% that it would be awful if we all wanted to live in the same place. Just before hubby and I retired, we bought 11 1/2 acres out in the country and built (did it ourselves) a new house. We love it out here and wouldn't trade it for any other place. Being happy where we are counts for a lot for us. We are very blessed.
