July Blooms, part IV

I've had a little time to look at pictures this morning. I love Crystal Dawn, Salmon Sunset, and Nerys! Nerys has been on my wishlist forever!

Gail, I've got a very few other AVs that I'm going to pot in self-watering pots (or something similar that I come up with on my own). If they do well, then maybe one day I'll be in the market for more AVs. Of the ones you sent me, I do still have Funambule (which looks decent) and Merlot (sort of hanging on). I'm going to pot them up today and hopefully they'll take off!

Gail, did the crown of AV Indian Trail that I sent you ever bloom? Mine still hasn't and before I go to too much more trouble with it, I'd like to see the blooms and see if it's correctly ID'ed. I don't think it is.

Not only did it not bloom, I couldn't even keep it alive.......sorry 'bout that! Funambule is cute with a dark dark semi double purple bloom. My merlots look horrible and I don't know why. All my wasps look great except for the merlot and I am getting ready to give up on them!

That's alright, this one has about a dozen more crowns. If you want me to snip one and root it for you, I will. I have high hopes for Funambule, since it's survived this long. I'll keep trying with Merlot, too. I love the wasps, but never have been able to get one to grow for me.

I don't feel like mailing right now (in fact, my sister in law is on her way to get me some more Naproxen to reduce the swelling and pulling of the stitches).......but I have (thanks to Jan) Royal Wasp, Vespe Verde, Say What and Sport of Celery that I grew from leaf and I have extras. I just love them! They really are easy to grow except for the Merlot. This is a Royal Wasp.

Oh, I wasn't asking you to send me anything! In fact, I was offering to send you another crown of that AV if you want it when you're feeling better! You concentrate on getting all healed up and don't even consider mailing me anything right now! ^_^

Royal Wasp is beautiful!

wish you could see that every tiny cutting you sent me is doing fantastic..........I have never had that kind of luck...............I used that long flimsy black tray with the dome and everything is getting so big I can't decide what to do with them yet (LOL) You may not remember but you sent about 4 kinds of episcias that are now big enough to start a pot of each one.........I am thrilled to pieces.........

I am grumpy today........better stay away from the other forums or I might get kicked off! (LOL)....my sister in law is bringing me some more naproxen , anti inflammatory med so my stitches don't pull so hard .........am like a bear in the woods (LOL)

That's why I send you the type of stuff I do. I know you can make it grow like wildfire! LOL So glad they're all doing well for you! Everything I put in the tray I told you about, with the inserts, is doing real well, too. Hope that works out to be a good method for me, as it sure saves space. I do recall sending you some Episcias, because that's yet another thing I CAN'T grow!! Grrr... LOL

My grandpa always told me that getting grumpy meant you were getting well. ;o) Best if you stay on the AV forum til you're over that grumpy spell. We know you and love you, grumpy or not! LOL ;o)

Re: the tray I mentioned above to Gail - I was pressed for time one day and wanted to put some leaves and such down, but didn't have holes in dixie cups for potting up, so I just used one of the seedstarting trays. Put 1/3 pure perlite in the bottom, then filled them the rest of the way with my mix. Left one hole open to monitor the water level and to water into. Here's a pic for reference. Worked well for an "in a hurry and too lazy to do it right" kind of day! LOL

They are growing like crazy!! I am dying to root this way, Rain! I even have the little insets...........

Last night I cut about 50-75 strep leaves to stick today. (as I felt good) They are still in the dehydrator pan and need to be stuck..........think I will take a nap as I have to feel good enough to stick them........don't dare waste even one cutting.

Laughing at you telling me to stay on this forum while I am grumpy........I am verrrrry grumpy and need to go lay down. Who knows? Maybe , miraculously I will wake up in a good mood.

LOL Well after all you've been through, you've a right to be a bit grumpy. I always wake up in a better mood than I was before a nap! ^_^

I've got a few pics to share, but think I'll start a new thread. This one is a bit slow...
