July Blooms, part IV

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Those first seeds came from Kaine's Special. It appears that I am going to get a lot of seeds from all the vines. They are green right now but I will be watching every day.

You will love wicking but I don't like wicking streps anymore.........that is, unless they are in big big containers like 5 and 6" pots. I like wicking african violets but the streps seem to stay too wet and do better when just hand watered.

(or I usually put them in trays with capillary matting and wick them)

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

You'll need to post a pic of the Kaine's Special in the MG forum, if you haven't already . . .

All I've got is AV's so far, so I think wicking will work for now. I'm washing and cleaning my other trays, in order to be ready for whatever else may come my way!!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

well, get ready! You can tell I am feeling much better tonight as I have had the camera out.......I will have to look tomorrow and see which one of the MGs is the Kaine's Special. It was hot when I was out there and everything was drooping.

Sinningia A Touch of Spice is blooming again.....

Only Ken at Hill Country nursery would be asking full price for Zanadu x self....and only me would buy it, but the colors are fantastic on this nice growing sinningia.

This is big news to me! Wish I could give credit to whomever sent this giant tuber to me of Darth Vader sinningia. She has been in soil and a zip lock for 3 weeks.

Gessie-Glad to see you back home and posting. I hope you turn your two months of liquid diet into positive weight loss. I thought I would lose some too when I was on the liquid diet after my last bleeding ulcer attack. However, those milkshakes added pounds instead. I love McDonalds artic orange shake. It's like a liquid dreamsickle. If you are old enough to remember them. LOL

I hope Ice Pink Flamingo seeds do come my way. I have not tried strep seeds and it will be a good "winter" project. I love the bloom on the Magnetoshere. It reminds me of the very first Strep I saw. A lady was moving to Seymour from up east and as my DH was her local realtor, she asked him if there was someone who could take care of her plants during the move. Of course, DH offered to take care of them for her. He meant I would take care of them for her. One of them was a strep with a purple and white bloom. I asked her about it after they got settled in and she told me about it. This was twenty years ago and of course until I had the internet , I didn't know where to buy one. I will always remember being in awe of that plant. Lou

Wow, I had SO much to catch up on this afternoon everyone! I haven't been on the computer since the middle of last week and there has been so many wonderful posts since then!

Gail, I'm SO glad you are home and doing well. You have been on my mind every single day so it's a great relief to see you home and healing and back in "the garden". You have been missed :)

What beautiful pictures everyone. Amy, that sinningia Purple Crest is a beauty! Gail, you have so many beautiful blooms that it was hard for me to pick a favorite but I think Zanadu x Self & Magnetosphere tied for first place *lol* Simply beautiful!

I can't take the credit for these blooms as they arrived from David with buds *lol*

wow, I am missing pictures galore..........isn't that funny, Bonnie that I couldn't remember that you gave me the Darth Vader........very excited that it has foliage and is growing.

Dispatcher, I had made a note in my folders that if I got any good seeds to send them to you........they will be beautiful babies as I have grown ICe Pink Flamingo from seed.

That magnetoshere came from my trip to boerne so I need to start making babies real quick on her.........She is pretty. Also I got that xanadu x self from him.

Gotta go............been on the telephone with a friend from Houston and it makes my mouth hurt.........back to rest a while...........
