She's about to .....#8 : )

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Louise,

The Latin name for mine is Abelmoschus esculentus, but that will not be what your seeds are.

Everybody is always saying the buds look like okra, so that is what I posted, just joking around That type of okra is also known as Clemson's Spineless. The hibiscus, rose of sharon and okra are all closely related and their flowers look similar. Maybe you can ask whoever sent them to you what they are or check the plant files for hibiscus or mallow. Unless they are a real real hardy variety I don't think they would overwinter outside for you, but I have overwintered hibiscus before inside and got blooms during the winter.

I'm sincerely apologize if my joke got your hopes up about finding out what yours was...Lov ya, Peg

Ha ha ha bad hottie!!!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Yeah, Kim, rub it in. Speaking of bad hottie, you still owe me a coffeecake recipe...hmm??

I wish you were here and we would get in that water. I get in trouble all the time for working in the garden and taking a flying leap in there just to cool off. DH says all the sweat, excuse me, "glistening" and dirt is not good for it. But that has not stopped me so far.

Okay back to watering and weeding...Peg

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

no prob, i will find it sooner or later. I would ask them if I knew lol! It was a newbie secret gift giving.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

yeah change the subject ; } ok I wiil give you a recipe in a few : ) lil glistening never hurt nothin...lolol.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I knew it was okra! I thought the bloom was, too!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Okay,Kim, I take it back now about a "bad hottie" You are sooo good and that recipe sounds as good as the picture you posted once. Thanks, Kim!

I'm planning Louise's cabbage dish and your coffeecake for Sunday dinner tomorrow. Sounds so good to me.

I'm also one who cooks almost every night so I am always looking for new recipes... yes, I haunt the recipe forum, too. During football season, I also cater for tailgating a little.. gumbo, chili, chicken tortillas and stew, but I finally backed off and will only do it every other weekend now, it gets hectic after awhile and I've done it about 15 years, so I don't see quitting that soon. Unless I get too busy with DG! I already had a call last week wanting to schedule...I cannot believe how fast this summer is going by...

Got to clean up from outside, cook and get ready for an early shift in the morning. Lov all of ya, Peg

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hey i'm making Louise's dish too! You can add more vanilla too taste or you could use lemon or orange extract instead : ) Enjoy!!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Peg, you mean you can make money cooking for games?!! Sounds good to me! Wish I was younger, and able to do it!!

Flat Rock, MI

Thank You everyone for the nice welcome. Glad to be here. This place start's my morning's off just right. lol I was asked where FlatRock was. I guess you could say I'm in between Detroit and Toledo Ohio. Not far from either. Very close to Lake Erie. Living in cold Michigan yes I do have to bring my Brug's in for the winter. However last year I didnt have all that many and guess I got a little crazy shopping this past winter so I'm not sure where I'm going to put them all this winter. Again Thank's to all for the nice welcome. Terri

Morning Hotties,
Anjl, so sorry to hear what happened, hope you’re feeling better soon. That baby’s coming ignore her for a while and she’ll greet you before long.
Linda Kay, That one nice batch of dats. I have a bunch of baby dats and have repotted several. There’re pretty strong little guys.

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Babeko!!..I am finally rested after going to Randy's Gathering at his home..I was able to visit Zone 9 Tropicals while we were there. And of course, I bought lots of new gingers I didn't have...I am waiting for the sun to come up so I can go check on my plants here for new flowerblooms or buds...will post pics if I do..

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Anjl, feel better soon! I tend to stay out in the heat too long too. Becky sent me new brug seeds from her new crosses, and I am not sure if I should start them now or wait until late winter. What do the hotties think? At least my babies now have some size on them for overwintering. Geez the skeeters are fierce this year. So much rain, the little needle noses are everywhere. It really feels tropical here in Nebraska!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Morning Hotties!!!
Anjl please take care of yourself that is a hottie order!!!!!
WTG Linda Kay : ) nice babies!
Moodene you know we loooove pictures!
Same here Louise skin so soft not cutting it...gonna get me some deep woods : }

Flat Rock, MI

Anjl,
Prayer's and thought's are with you for a speedy recovery.

I work in Trenton which is about 10 mins away-flat rock is about 30 mins from where I live:)

Flat Rock, MI

Oh yes I'm in Trenton alot. Love Trenton. However I would say I'm in Woodhaven the most since that's where Walmart, Meijer and all them store's are for plant buying. lol So tell me do you have much luck with your Brug's here in Michigan??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stacey looks like you got a gadening neighbor in flat rock!!!

Anjil, Please take care. Those heat stroke are not to be laughed at. That was a BIG warning sign to you, Slow down and take it easy!!!

Moodene, my brug came in all beaten up, wilted, and no leaves on it at all. I have her potted up, and will keep a close eye on it.

Everyone have a nice Sunday, and hope you all wake up to lots of blooms

I don't have brugs-I just wanted to say Hi to you ma'am:) I work right down on West & Fort:) One of these days I will try one, I just don't want to lug a bunch of stuff in and out at this point in my gardens is all:) LK told me you were here so that is why I popped over:)

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Anjl, you need to be careful from now on, with heat! I had one years ago, and I don't tolerate heat at all, any more! Stay inside during the middle of the day!! That's an order!!
We're going to be in the 100's all next week, so you wont find me even out looking for buds! May have to water after dark!! Well, it rains after dark, what could it hurt??!!

Flat Rock, MI

Stacey you are smart about not wanting to lug thing's in and out. It's a big chore!! I do have several houseplant's that I bring out in the summer and that's alot of work. Actually I just started bringing my houseplant's outside last summer. Wow what a difference it made! I seen thing's grow that just sat there for a long time in the house. Well if you ever decide to try a Brug I will be happy to share some with you. Take Care

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

you to Terri:) I will get off this thread now since I don't have any brugs:) Dmail me anytime:)

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

My Sweetie brought me 2 5 gal. buckets last night. He gets them where he works, they just throw them away! And I have some bags coming from the coop. That should be enough for me!!
