Linda Kay, I agree with Kim on the dats/brug seedlings.. Oh, it's Antique Lace, 2 blooms!!! :) Anjl?

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Audrey that's wonderful. I have some brugs in 1, 3 and 5 gal pots, I'll get back with ya on it, I grow almost everything in pots.. (spagetti is on)

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

AuntB, Antique lace is such a sweetie, so dainty and petite, just a little doll.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Hi Donna! Thanks, she is in the spotlight in the garden tonight.. It may storm, I carefully moved her up on the deck for quick rescue if it gets bad. I also was greeted with blooms on a Desert Rose and Electric Blue hibiscus. How was your day, today, dry I hope?

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I have a ? my co-op brug is prolly over 2ft and bare rooted...what size pot should I use??? I have her roots soaking in super thrive and kelp for now.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Kim I put Antique lace in a gallon pot, (the one she's blooming in) she rooted and grew about a foot then put out the buds..

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

OMG AunteB, she is just precious, I love the size. Really nice to see the whole plant in the setting, it's just lovely. I really thought the watering can was intentional it fits. That hib is gorgeous, I love the tropicals, maybe I should move.

Good question Kim, I’ll be waiting on the answer too.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Thanks, for the answer, I got some WM $1.97 pots, I’m guessing 2 gallons are they to big?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks AuntB! I always get confused...the 6 inch pot is a gallon pot am I right?? Ok bloom of the day pinky noid!

Thanks Donna i'm tickled pink ; } there are sooo many buds this is my first big flush ever!!!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

AuntB. I don't think the plants got dry, maybe to much water. Looks like one is putting out new leaves, sure hope so.
Kim, quote: " I have her roots soaking in super thrive and kelp for now" . What is super thrive and kelp?
What is the best food for Brugs?

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Yay! New leaves is a GOOD sign, Audrey. Kim the gallon I have Antiqueie in is the size of a 3lb coffee container (not cans anymore,:)

Audrey, Superthrive is vitamins for plants. B 12, I think...not sure I have a bottle somewhere.. Just a few drops to a watering can.. I use it a lot when repotting and watering in the first time when planting.. kelp is seaweed, has nutrients as a mild fertilizer, Kim? I'd like to feed mine "green", just haven't got the guts to switch...good composted manure, seaweed, fish emulsion are great. I feed mine 20-20-20, 1/4 to 1/2 strength to full strength depending on the growing stage, and only in the growing season. Ease them on and ease them off for me in spring and winter. Nadine, you probably use Kens "recipe"? Kim what do you use? Those are pretty buds and bloom! Smell yet? Your FIRST FLUSH!!! AH! The yard will be wafted with it's fragrance... Lil Antique Lace smells baby powdery soft... I'm in love;)

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the pot size comparison AuntB! I use everything you listed : ) I use the"recipe" just abouit everyday. Yay for the new leaves Faye!! It smells lovely outside : )

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey all you Hotties...
I have been in the ER with my Momma for 5 1/2 hrs tonight!! She just can't get any relief with her back! the Xrays show bony spurs.. osteoporosis.. degenerative disk disease..etc her problem disks are the exact same as mine.. aren't we a fine pair??LOL I hate to see her in pain, sio I am going to have to stay more at the NH to make sure they GIVE her ..her pain meds.. I already told Bonnie.. I'd like to SLAP a bunch of those nurses into next week!!... ohhh I am BAD.. but right now I am MAD!! Sorry.. girls.. don't mean to rain on ya'lls parade.. just gotta vent a lil.. My Momma is my world.. my Momma and my best friend.. I would even "fight " my Daddy when he mistreated her!!.. I better clarify.. I'd "fuss".. hehe
Beautiful blooms everyone!! Maybe I will have time in the morning to check on mine.. thay are liking the sun more so I am happy now.. I even use Superthrive on my established plants too.. love the stuff!!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Doe planting in pots is alot of fun! I went mega garage sale hunting today and at one house they had these small garbage cans planted with lovely loaded tomato plants all lining their driveway! It looked really cool! I am guessing the rest of their yard was just too shady. There are alot of varieties for containers, especially veggies. If your hubby wants to do flowers and such I recommend getting him a container gardening magazine. They are awesome when you are starting out. Very visual instruction. Bonnie that tiny brug is such a cutie pie! I love the hib too! So hard to have a camera capture those subtle colors! Hey Clemen you cutie, hope you are having some fun! Beck, just went through that same thing with my Dad last year. He had spinal stenosis and it was causing him horrible pain. He was old school and did not tell his Doc how bad he was suffering. Could not sleep or sit or walk without terrible pain. The Doc told him to take tylenol!! Like that did ANYTHING! I had to go with him to the Doc and be his mouthpiece. I told the Doc that at my Dad's age there is NO reason he should be suffering. So the Doc prescribed him some heavy duty pain killers which made it bearable. In fact my Dad was so relieved I thought he was going to cry. They did help him tremendously. He gave my Dad an unlimited supply and he was very careful with them. He only took them when his back was really bad. But truly if he took a few more at his age so what?! At least his last year was pretty pain free. No one should suffer like that in this day and age. I mean sheesh they prescribe some people pain pills like candy and the people who really need them go without because they don't complain.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh I forgot to say I scored some great finds at the garage sales. New plant stands and baskets for planting and a couple cute goose planters. Alot of other stuff too like a practically new bissell compact carpet scrubber for 5 bucks. My hubby even bought one of those shower units that has all the body spray jets( still in the box) for 10 bucks. I love garage sales! That and estate sales.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Wow great YS finds Louise, wanta come and clean my rugs, they sure do need it.
Beck, I know first hand how those NH places are you have to be on top of them all time. The squeaky wheel gets oiled so don’t go easy on those nurses; remember they’re working for you. Vent away anytime, it will help with the stress to get it out.
Beautiful day here, I’m on nothing duty so I think I’ll go down the road and sit on the edge of the ocean like a beached whale.

Whoops forgot to say
Morning Hotties, Have a great Saturday.

Hi All,
I'm new here and been reading all your great info and have learned so much. Not to mention have gotten so many laugh's. I'm new to Brugmansias as of last year. I'm trying to learn all I can. I was wondering if anyone could sugest some good book's on Brug's. Thank's so much.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Welcome Terrijean, I’m new to burgs also. I don’t know about books, I’ve gotten all my info here. Just wanted to say Hello, stay awhile and have some fun. If your not addicted yet you will be soon.

Flat Rock, MI

Thank You but I think I'm hooked!! Started off in the fall of 2006 which my son brought me home what I call STICK'S!! I ask him what the heck was I supposed to do with stick's. Never heard of a Brug. He know's I'll try and grow just about anything that bloom's. Well he said just stick them in water and they will root. I did and spring of 2007 I planted them and WOW. So beautiful! They were all pink.Of course all last winter I shopped on line for more. However I think I over did it and planted WAY to many in one area. They seem to be doing well but just starting now with a few bud's.
Yes this is a wonderful and friendly place and I've learned so much and so glad I found it. You have a great Saturday!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Terrijean, welcome to the group. Where is flatrock, I was born and raised in Grand Haven, Mi.

Do you bring your brugs in during the winter, or do you cover them up with something?
Take care, and show us some pictures if you can. We like pictures...

I agree about the pain meds! Why should we older folks suffer? If we get addicted, so what?!! I'd rather be dead than in constant pain! I have an understanding dr. and he gives me what I need to make it bearable. He knows I wont abuse the meds. Tell your dad the pain meds work better if he'll keep some in his system at all times. I take mine twice a day. If for some reason I miss one, I pay!! Good luck!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Good morning Hottie Sisters!

To add your real name under your DG name, next to your location, you can go to the top of the page, and click on "my info" then click on "my preferences", then click on the right hand side of the page on "my location". Then you can type your name in front of your city.
That is how I got my name there.
Linda Kay

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)
