Majesty Palm - What's Happening? Please Help...

Okay...my majesty palm has been through a lot, so I'll start from the beginning. The first day I got it I had to drive it home with the convertible top down b/c it wouldn't fit any other way. B/C of the the wind damage the leaves got really dry and started to split at the ends. I snipped those fronds off one by one to maintain some fullness. Eventually I started to see a few new fronds shooting up. When the first frond started to open up I just snipped all of the fronds with leaves that were splitting at the ends, which was literally all of the fronds with leaves. So I was left with 1 frond that was opening up and about 3 that were shooting up but hadn't opened. I figured this was best for the plant so that it could focus on the new growth rather than the fraying leaves.

All of this happened about 2-3 months ago.

Now I am starting to get worried for two reasons.

One: The one frond that was opening up, still has not fully opened. I help it out by pulling the leaves apart gently when they have separated down to the tip of the leaf. It is a very large frond and it seems healthy, but there are a few leaves with white tips. I noticed the white color at the tip of the frond when it first shot up and all of the unopened fronds have small splotches of white on them. Is this normal? Or are the white spots a sign of some bigger issue?

Two: When I cut off all the fronds, as mentioned above, I cut them down about 3 inches from the base, which I read was the proper way to cut. Now the remaining 3 inches are pulling up out of the soil. There are no roots attached to these pieces and a chunk, which I call the base, is still rooted in the soil. I thought this was all normal, but I am not so sure anymore because one of the new fronds pulled up out of the soil as well. This frond was in a cluster of the old stems that I was pulling up. I also noticed that there is moisture in the parts that I'm pulling up and the remaining base. I am so new to this houseplant thing and I don't know if this is the natural course of the plant or if I'm doing something wrong.

I am scared that all of my fronds will pull out of the soil and I will be left with a big pot of soil and no plant. In the unfortunate event that something like that happens, will the plant ever grow again or am I doomed?

If the stems are pulling out of the soil that easily it makes me suspect root rot or something along those lines, especially since you're noticing moisture. If you stick your finger down a couple inches into the soil, how does it feel? If it's really wet, your best be might be to unpot it, shake off as much soil as possible, trim off any roots that look slimy/mushy, then rinse them in some chamomile tea or dilute hydrogen peroxide and repot in some fresh soil in a fresh pot (or if you need to reuse the current pot, clean it out with some bleach and rinse well before putting the plant back in)

Ecrane...I stuck my finger in the soil and it is dry as far as my finger would go. I doubt its root rot because I had a gnat issue a while ago which led me to repot the plant and the roots were fine; since that time I've cut my watering in half and only water when the plant is bone dry.

It is possible that the damage was done earlier when the plant was too wet. In that case, if you've already repotted it and you're watering properly now that's the best you can do, hopefully the plant will perk up. The only other thing I'd check is how deep the plant is planted in the pot--if you planted it too deep when you repotted that can cause problems even if you're not giving it excessive amounts of water. I can't tell from your pics whether it might be too deep or not.
