Daily Pics Vol 126

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Thanks CMoxon, I'm certain your birds will enjoy the blackcurrants, lol, most of mine are now picked but I don't mind them getting some.

Thanks nanny!

Sorry you have a bad back knip, would have been nice to have sun to take the pain away with taking pics!

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

this is the second summer that a pair of Black Skimmers has built a nest on a busy public beach in Daytona Beach Shores. The newspaper is documenting their stay. The nest, which has been roped off is just a scraped out hollow. So far 2 chicks have hatched from 3 eggs. Today I decided to go see them for myself and got some great photos. Here one chick is visible with both parents.

Spectacular birds bsharf, nice to know they are being protected. Let's hope the chicks make it to maturity and thanks for posting your pics.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Very nice pics on this thread as well as the previous one. Thanks for the start Claire!

It's nice to see the many birds from other parts of the world as well as our local ones in the US. I am always amazed at what I find on this forum and appreciate all of you who post here!

I bought a little feeder at the $ store for the little birds and a family of Cardinals is using it...here is mama Card!

Rose, I've been watching a baby Cardinal all morning! I haven't gotten one good shot. Yours are gorgeous!

Cparts, that hawk is AMAZING!

Nanny, your oriole is gorgeous! I had two pretty yellow ones this morning, but didn't get a shot of either one.

Margaret, you cracked me up. Your 28 is really stunning and so is that grass! One of these days, I'll learn how to focus manually!

Here's momma flycatcher with baby food.

Here's one of the three flycatcher babies. Momma shouted "that crazy woman with the camera is out here --DUCK!" The other two dutifully ducked their heads out of sight. This one must be a boy.

nanny - those are still great, even through the screen.

wish I had the time and patience you all have to get these shots!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

OMG! He's so funny looking! I love that little swallow!

Nanny, those are the best through-the-screen pics I've ever seen. What a cutie!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Pictures here get more amazing every time I look. That last swallow picture is the cutest ever.

My brother emailed me again and said the hawk is still around. He seems to be hiding around a wood pile under the lean to. He is not sure what is wrong with it. It doesn't appear to hurt, but surely not acting normal.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Cparts..glad you liked the Swallow pic. What kind of hawk is that...could it be a juvie and does it ever fly? I'm wondering if your brother could contact someone who knows about raptors to find out more. I know my neighbor found an American Kestral with a broken wing and the people who rehab Raptors were thrilled to get it. I think she took it to a state facility..not positive about that. Hope it will be OK.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

He said it was a redtail. I have never seen one that close and sitting still to tell.

I asked him if he called a rehabber or someone that may know. Haven't heard back yet.

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh so many beautiful pictures!!! many thanks to all of you who post!!
Nanny - the pics thru the screen of the goldfinch are lovely , as if taken thru a soft focus lens

Anyone trying to locate a rehabber,, don't forget to go to your states online site under wildlife commission. NC has a link specifically for rehabbers , I believe it is listed by county, and we are all listed by name with phone #'s.... but since is public info, hopefully it is listed somewhere.. Unfortunately sometimes its kind of like looking in the dictionary---you need to know how to spell the word to look it up to see if you've spelled it right---go figure!

Finally put up a Humme feeder in the back 2day and a female came right away. I must have mised it to weak tho because she kept taisting then backing away & looking at it then she'd come to me & bk 2 the feeder a # of times. Wish I knew what they were thinking about us sometimes!

Nice pics GM!

Love the Barn Swallow Rose!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

I'm glad you all like the Barn Swallow fledge...I have to sneak around to get a pic as the adults get way too upset and dive bomb and I don't want to distress them, especially in this heat! They are such fun birds and this is the first year (out of 26 years) that I have really taken the time to observe them! I took this pic last eve as they landed on the chicken house roof and squabbled at each other!

Nanny...don't sell yourself short, those two pics of the GF are the prettiest I've seen. The colors and the poses are lovely and are definitely feel good pics!!

GM...you have a great variety of birds in your yard and I like that new platform...you can really see who visits!
