Sambucus Nigra Black Lace

southampton, United Kingdom

Hi
I have a Sambucus Nigra Black Lace, at the moment its in a pot but I want to plant it in the garden, the book says it has to be in full sun.but the place where I want to put it has afternoon sun only, does anyone know if it would be okay there or does it have to be in full sun all day?

This link may give you an idea about the amount of sun.

It is a beautiful plant.

In zone 5b I've had mine planted in a partly shaded condition for three years and it's doing fine. Mine gets a bit of morning sun, then is shaded by a young silver maple for a while, then gets a bit of afternoon sun.

I have 2 of them. The one that gets full sun keeps a better purple/black color, but the one w/ shade for part of the day has grown well in last year since I've had it, and seems healthy- just a bit greener with slightly more space in between the branches than the one in full sun.
