Giant Bird on Steriods! Does anybody have any idea how big these get? This one has doubled in size in the last year! It's in the shade and there's no sign of any blooms...but it is HUGE!
Container Renovations 4! (smile)
The bougainvillea on this trellis has just grown out of control this year. About every couple of weeks my Guy prunes it back a little and weaves the long branches into the top (OUCH...they're so thorny!). It's coming along though. It's not blooming as much lately though, because I think they bloom more when it's drier and we've been gettting some good rain. It took this picture about an hour ago and now there's a torrential downpour! Love it!
KatG.....are you BOP the orange or white variety? My whites are around 15 feet tall (maybe a bit larger) but are in the ground. Maybe yours won't get as large in the pot(?)
The orange get around 5-6 feet.
My caladiums (from Bill) are going all out in this humid tropical weather! I have a few Red Flash that are almost waist high. The smaller varieties are full and lush.
MerryMary: That BOP is in the ground and it's the white variety. I've got a few orange guys in the back they're about 4ft and are blooming well. Has your's stopped at 15ft? (I hope so...otherwise mine will be hitting the veranda roof!).
And yes, Bills Caladiums are outrageous! Looking on his thread, he's got some really nice varieties coming up next year. He really does have the best stock. I've put in ones I bought from places like HD or Sam's and they just don't compare! I put Red Flash in last year and some came up again, but not that great as I just have too much sun! Sounds like you have quite a garden going on there!
Thank you for the name but I am going to die........ last photo is excellent and realy looking as snatched from a wish card.
Kaleem
Kaleem...I just wish that whoever took the photo for the "snatched wish card" thought about cutting the lawn first! hahaha.
Kat, it isn't that "high"! Don't worry about it. No one probably would have noticed had you not said anything! haha
The rest is so beautiful! Love all of your pictures!
Kat....isn't that the new, improved hybrid Pt. Charlotte grass that's SUPPOSED to be cut high to benefit its root system, along with less frequent spewing of mower fumes into the environment? Works for me... ;)
To keep on track, I continue to enjoy other people's bougainvillea - too bitey for me.
Jeanne - grass was cut today and we had a good rain tonight! Just love that!
Denisemb - THANK-YOU! Do you have that same grass in Orlando? Hope you didn't get any of the fumes when my lawn was cut today! LOL!
Actually the lawn looked better before cutting...but I did get a new Shady lady Olive tree replaced as it had died...I love Olive trees for the way they grow. (no fruit).
terichris! You bad girl! I want that head! hehehehe.
Ummmmm...where in Naples??? (my dear man just bought me a nice Dolly!)
I grin every time I drive past "David." Isn't he beautiful? I would fill him with bunches of yucca & have him look like Billy Idol (ooops, showing my age...) I think you would need 6 strong men & a flatbed!
KatG - Are those pups on your Queen Emma Crinum??? Want to trade for anything? I put two pups in the ground this year & I should have kept them in pots for a while I guess. Would love to try again.
that first urn looks great.... and love the mohawk
KatG,
I love the necklace on the female. What a great idea. Tina
Yeah, I can't say any of my lawn art wears David Yurman!
Thanks for the photo, Kat. I just have to find some pagoda plants! Love them, love them! Actually, it won't take any real persuasion on my part to get DH to plant them. I'm one of those lucky women whose hubbies live to please them. Of course, it works both ways!
The "leaf cutter bees" must be what's eating my snail vine....the leaves are full of holes! What can I spray it with?
Love your "Brainiac"! Very funny! LOL! Love all of your pictures!
Jeanne: Apparently there's really nothing you can do about these bees - Insecticide doesn't work and about the only thing that you can do is cover the plant with netting/cheesecloth. Apparently these bees are not the agressive type and don't even eat the "hole punches". They line their nests and eggs with them. Good news is, they're not destructive to your home like Carpenter bees and aren't crazy about wood. They sure have big round mouths though, don't they?
Kat,
How are your Sunpatiens doing? I've used them the last few years (same containers/placement/care), but they're not flourishing as well this year - looking kinda spindly already. I'm wondering if cutting them back would help?
Okay...Go back and look at the picture I posted earlier today - The head with glasses!
I printed it out tonight and both me and my Guy were looking at it. Not only is there an eye looking over the right lens, there's eyes looking through the glasses???? I'm trying to figure out what the reflection was.
The heads are taking on real personalities! hahahaha
They've been doing not bad in the fountian I made into a planter though. This pic is about 4 weeks ago. They're a little more sun bitten right now and it's contant watering to keep them alive. I just pulled the Sunpatience out of some small planters I had as they just melted suddenly. I love the Sunpatience, but they're not the same as last years stock for some reason.
Thanks, glad to know it's not just me. I've had great success the past few years and am a bit bummed seeing them "poop out" so early this season.
And yes, I see the "eyes" in your ladyhead planter...a bit scarey, but I like it! LOL OK, it's official. I NEED one of your head planters!
OMG! If you think you've seen it all from me...this will confirm that I've gone over the edge. I have a new Rate-my-space site featuring the "Cranium family". This takes heads to a totally different level! hahaha
