Does anyone know what this plant is? I found this photo from the herb garden at Sissinghurst gardens, and I'm pretty smitten with those black pods!
ID help
The first thing that comes to mind for me is Physalis, although I'm not familiar with a specific one that has that color seedpods. But I suspect it's either one of those or something related, so maybe that can at least give you a place to start.
I agree w/ ecrane, but must add that if it's anything like physalis alkekengi, and you do happen to aquire one, don't put it in the ground! My orange lanterns are fighting a battle of yard domination!
thank you both for a good head start. I haven't found it yet, but I enjoyed lots of beautiful physalis pics looking! And thanks for the tip about their invasiveness- I was planning on planting them in the yard next year- I think maybe they'll go in a pot instead.
