help with natural "trellis" for woodland area

Bella Vista, AR(Zone 6b)

Hi all,
I have several very interesting vines in my woods that I would like to keep, but keep a little more confined by training them to a trellis of some sort. Since it is a natural, native area I would like to use something very natural looking. The only thing I can think of is to take a post-hole digger and stand a log up on end. I don't know if it would stand straight without using concrete.... Does anyone else have any ideas for a natural trellis for my vines? I have passion flower (maypop), morning glory, virginia creeper and muscadine. I am mostly concerned about the passion flower.

Do you have wisteria vines or maybe some small pliable trees like willow. You could lay out a design, weaving these in a rustic trellis shape. The supports would be tacked together with small finish nails. Rather like the rustic furnitures... maybe?

To go along with what podster said, you could also provide training towards the shape you want by tieing fishing line to those arching willow branches.

I don't know just how natural you mean but we put up a section of split rail fence for my Mexican Flame vine and it looks really nice.

Oh I think that would be very pretty. I am thinking about doing something very simple, using what I already have... that's why I thought of the logs. I had cut some good size limbs up and they are still about 6 feet long and about 6 inches in diameter. I also have some old grapevine I could probably use.

A split rail fence is so pretty. A house in town had two sections displaying a spring blooming Forsythia. Very pretty together...

We have another section of split rail fence that hubby plans to put up for my Lady Banks rose. It really does have a classy but rustic look. We really like ours.

I created a trellis in my backyard using maples branches. I just took all the twigs and leaves off and used what I had to string it together (that happened to be twine) and it is working quite nicely. Ill put a pic up here the next time I get out there with my camera.
