Texasbigleaves, your Colocasia collection is very impressive, I am still trying to find a yellow splash. l love the Tiger stripe, it is huge. Are the leaves variegated or striped like the stalks ?

robcorrea, the morning glory is Blue Dawm (Ipomoea Indica). They are very aggressive and will cover everything in no time at all. I am constantly pulling them off rose bushes, shrubs, etc.

Texasbigleaves, I love your collection! EEs are addicting.

Red Oak, TX

Texasbigleaves, outstanding pictures, they all seem to be doing well. There are two colocasias (Lime aid and Elena) that I did not know existed. I like the tiger stripe even with the dull leaves.
I don't think that mine has grown very much since spring.

I am enjoying all of the photos so much.

Jerry , I have two young Elena's. They are so pretty, but I started them as pups in dappled shade. I have tried to graduate them to the sun, and when I did, the leaves turn weird , like I had lit a match to a paper. I quickly put them back in the shade. Yours look like the are in the sun.

Rita-The alocasia is called "calidora", and is a LariAnn Hybrid, although Persian Palm is the name that many businesses use for the alocasia, and I think needs to be recognized as a nick name. so that people can easily correctly identify there plants.

And everyone's pics look great!

Hi Deb!!! Thanks the very first blooms on my double. I'm so proud!!!

This may not be tropical. It's definately southern. LOL!!!!

Dynamite crepe myrtle.

The banana behind it makes it tropical. LOL Boy everything is looking soooo pretty. I've got to find time to get over there to see it in person.

Hurry before it burns up. I'm steady loosing stuff. This heat!!!!!

Port Vincent, LA(Zone 8b)

That's why I started moving things around in my beds. What didn't have a problem in the sun 3 weeks ago, is wilting. So I moved them around and everything looks good now. And lets not forget how hot it got last September. These poor plants need some shade sometime. The only things I have in my full sun bed is the things that just love it.
Trial and error. LOL

This plant has the neatest colors!!!

- I'm lovin the hibiscus

Red Oak, TX

texasbigleaves, sorry that we missed you. I had a gift certificate and a coupon for Northaven Garden that I had to take advantage of. They had a double rangoon creeper in a 5 gal. pot but I came home with a few new caladiums.
We are planning a trip to Rockport in Sept. where Phughes and Gessiegail will show us to all the good nurseries, hope that you can make it then.

skaz421, Welcome, I have naver seen a mickey mouse that big before, it must be all that rain in Florida. I love the color of your hibiscus, which ones are your favorite? I started planting flowering tropicals, then a friend got me hooked on EEs.

Truetropical77, thank you for your explanation. I am so bad with names, I will try to identify it by its proper name so as not to make that mistake again.
Can you and Kamerion come with us in September? I bet he will be able to find lots of roses and gingers (his favorite) too.

Thankyou Truetropical77 for the ID

Jeri, I love that plant.

Hi Rita, love your caladiums . And yes, it's easy to get hooked on EE's.

Red Oak, TX

Jerii, thanks for sharing your pictures. The crepe myrtle is georgeous, I have a favorite called peppermint lace. Now I will have to find a Dymanite too.

Drapelady , here is my variegated pineapple a few months older than Truetropicals. I do not know what to do with it now. It has quite a few little plants coming out of the fruit.
It hurts if touched.

Rita- I would love to go, We will have to start planning on it! here is an unidentified hibiscus.

Hibiscus don't get a lot of attention here, I guess because they're so common. Everybody has them in their front yard, they're part of the standard landscaping package, along with palms, crotons, crepe myrtles, etc.

I'm trying to use my garden space for planting more exotic tropicals - EEs, gingers, plumies, bananas, heliconias. My garden went in very late; I'm just starting to see plants flowering now. These caladiums are hold-overs from last year, and they absolutely love all the rain we've been getting here.

Steve, nice to see your yard coming to life!!

Wesley Chapel, FL(Zone 9a)

Hetty,

It'll really come to life when the plumie flowers. I'm on my way now to get some epsom salts.

Do you ever use Ironite? It's a 7-6-6 with minors, and delivers a healthy dose of iron. It's made specifically for 'greening up' yellowing plants. I have a big bag of it here.

Steve
