Tropical Garden #14
LiliMerci, thank you for starting a new thread, are we superstitous about #13? lol.
Your begonia looks so pretty, my begonias in pots are doing great, but the ones planted in the ground died.
robcorreia, love the bold color of your canna , I bet this is the most fun that I have had for the price of membership.
Sunshinesw, I am glad to see your pictures, love your hoyas, especially the last one.
Good morning everyone.
Rita, I have uprite EE's and they love the sun. Can you tell me of some other tropicals that love our hot scouring sun. LOL
I love the yellow and white hibiscus with the red in the middle AND Night Fire. I just bought a coral one at Lowe's this morning. A 1 gallon was $7. I'll post picture in a little bit.
And I'm not usually superstitious, but... why take any chances on my favorite website!
Gessiegail, I saw picture of your Dragon Begonia and it is beautiful, especially the shiny leaves.
Is this a Dragon Begonias?
Sunshine, I can't take credit for the Angel Wings Begonias above. I have this plant but it's much smaller. The one in the picture is my mother and it's about 3 year old. She started it from a tiny cutting. Mine is flowering like crazy and I have lots of new leaves but it doesn't look anything like above.
drapelady, Most of my Aroids have some shade. The alocasia Lutea is the only plant that is in all-day sun, I might have to move it eventually.
The Tropicals that I have growing in the sun are mostly the usual Hibisucs, Plumerias, Bougainviellas, copperleaf plant, bananas, crotons, Tapioca, plumbago, Travelers palm and papayas. I am sure someone else has a few of their own personal favorite sun tropicals to share.
Here is a 9ft. variegated sea Hibiscus growing in the sun.
Rita, If it came from me it is Royal Hilo. If not it could be a TIGER STRIPE. Jerry
Rita, Your bouganvillea is so pretty. I saw some yesterday at Lowe's and was so tempted to buy them. They had one with 2 colors in a container a pink and an orange/coral one. It looks like yours is pink and white from the same plant? That is so cool, never seen that. And my sweet potato vine is growing like crazy. I love that plant.
This morning I have flowers on my Runner Beans. They are so pretty.
Rita, your banana seems to be in mostly shade. Is that right? I have a part shade spot where I would really like to plant a zebrina....
Lilimerci, lovely mailbox! I bet the postman prefers that than a barking dog, lol!
robcorrea, my bananas are usually in the sun, but right now I have them under a shade cloth until they get a little bigger to give some shade to the understory plants. I lost two very large Sabas and a Zebrina in that part of the garden.
I find that the Zebrinas have better color, the more sun they get.
the mailman could get attack by the bees and another flying buy. I was trying to take a picture of it this morning. I don't know what it is but it loves my mailbox plants and it looks like a very souped-up, large fly.
Placenciarita, wow! those vines do take over! What kind of morning glory is it?
