Brenda
I am hopping that the pot you put it in has lots of holes like 6 to 8 cause you need to water it like plenty of water

Hi Ladies: I can't stay on her long .. MAJOR STORMS! Thunder and lightning getting bad! But, I guess it wouldn't be a bad way to go, LOL ... looking at beautiful blooms and chatting with my "sista" friends!

KimK: Your night photo shots are Amazing! Wow! I love those Japanese Iris! Do you have to set your camera to any special setting to get pictures like that? or is it just in the dark with the flash? Really gorgeous! Yes, yes ... I want seeds of some of your balloon flowers this fall! Oh, that would be so wonderful to have a garden full of those beauties!

Dimmer/Kim: Wow, you have a lot of nice outside garden plants too! I love that Mexican Shell and that Allium and the Lily with the red and black! Lovely! That Dragon Alum is a neat looking plant. Do you know if it's one that smells bad? I've heard there are a few that really have a nasty smell. Like this one called "Corpse Flower" because it smells like rotting flesh. YUCK! Check this out: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/69521/ And look how huge it gets ... guess Titan is an appropriate name for it.

Brenda: What can I say ... You have some stunning outdoor blooms too. I have always loved Columbine! Sure wish it grew down south! That Lavender Iris is so cool ... I had no idea that any Iris was fragrant and to think there's one that smells like grape cool aid (or LOL Dymetapp) is soo neat! The Foxgloves are amazingly beautiful - love the one in your last photo, very pretty color!

Gail: I would love to have more of the yellow Esperanza! I will send you a d-mail. I found seed pods this morning on the one I posted a photo of yesterday! I'm so excited! I wonder how hard they are to grow from seed? Maybe I could have a fence of them across the front of our property in no time! What a beautiful sight that would be ... a fence full of vivid yellow elder flowers!

Ok ... I'm signing off until these storms are over!

Forgot to comment on that acre of Blueberries you grow KimK! Wow! That is a lot of Blueberries! Do you sell them? Freeze them? I have an Awesome recipe my niece gave me for fresh blueberry cake! I used frozen blueberries because it wasn't the season for fresh. I have never been a blueberry fanatic, I like them okay but can take them or leave them ... until I had this cake! Last time I made it, I ate almost the entire cake cause Hubby didn't really seem interested - he loves blueberry muffins though.

hmmm ... how about a trade, blueberries for plants? I would have to have you order plants though cause I don't have anything you don't already have. ^_^

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

You are so funny my friend *lol*
Would you really like me to send you some blueberries? We are picking Sunday and I would be happy to send you some.
Of course I would NEVER let you send me anything for them you silly goose.
I actually prefer the big ones (these are the small wild ones you know) and right now the big ones are buy 1 get 1 free at Shaws so I just bought 4 quarts of the big ones. I eat 1/2 quart on a bowl of shredded wheat almost every day. I can't eat enough blueberries, they are my absolute favorite fruit!!

Seriously, you want a quart of the small ones?

XO
Kim

(Zone 1)

Oh, I would love it, Kim! So, if you buy the big ones, what do you do with the acre of wild blueberries? I bet they would sell quickly at a farmers market or a roadside stand! I will pay for postage and handling for you to mail a quart to me! Blueberries are not cheap in the grocery stores down here .... seem to be one of the most expensive fruits!

MMMMM ... I'm gonna make a blueberry cake soon, I just know it! Maybe some muffins too!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Lin, I usually freeze the small berries for winter baking.
Do you want the big berries too? They are $3.99 and buy 1 get 1 free all the time here. I like the smaller ones to bake with but I like the bigger ones to eat by themselves or on my cereal. Are you talking the small berries? Just want to be sure I understand which berries you like to bake with.

Kim

(Zone 1)

Kim, I would love a quart of the small ones you are growing and the next time the big ones are on sale, yes definitely get me one of those too! I AM going to reimburse you! It's only right that I pay for packing/shipping! I can freeze whatever I don't use right away! But, I might just go on a baking spree and bake my cake and muffins and whatever else I can think of too! LOL.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

OK Lin, hopefully I get a chance to take some time to go picking this weekend :) I'm thinking maybe Sunday afternoon hopefully. We have to go to a BarBQ at a guy hubby works with house tomorrow (do I sound like I'm looking forward to it?........NOT *lol*) but he would do it for me so I pretend that I can't wait *lol* Sunday I'm really hoping for a "down" day so I can go picking and then play plants :)

XO
Kim

(Zone 1)

No rush ... whenever you pick, just remember to save some for me!

(Zone 1)

Ok, after the storms quit I took a couple of outside pic's.

This bed needs cleaning and grooming badly.

My pictures are not very good. Nothing seems to be in good focus. I swear I look through the viewfinder and everything looks perfect but then when I download them and look at them, they are pretty bad sometimes!

Here's a close up of a colorful Croton. When these bloom the flowers are nondescript but the colors of the foliage is as pretty as any rainbow!

Another Croton with really pretty colors too!

Oops ... it transmitted twice ... guess you can't delete a photo?

Kim: I was so in awe of your night time photo's that I plan on going outside after it gets dark and take a couple of pictures to see how they turn out.

Here's a close up of my blooming Alamanda.

One of my Gardenia bushes is blooming again - flowers smell so good but have bugs, thrips I think so I need to give it a dose of BATS/

By the way, Kim ... I am LOVING my dish cloth's!! They are really wonderful! I have a dishwasher that I use a lot but I still do a lot of things in the kitchen sink too ... so will be using them quite often! I can tell already I will not ever want to be without these! Thank You so much!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Wow Lin you have been a busy lady :)
What BEAUTIFUL gardens you have!
I love that Alamanda! That will make a beautiful night shot.
Can't wait to see your night photos!
I'm so glad to hear you like your cloths. I know I love mine too and they are all I have used for years :)
Right now knitting is really helping me keep my hands and mind busy so I'm whippin' em out like crazy *lol*

Be careful out there in the dark with your camera *lol* It's a bit tricky :) You are going to love the way they come out though :)

Kim

(Zone 1)

Ok Kim,

Tell me how to do the night shots!! My flash goes off and the pic's look normal. It's overcast and cloudy, not much moon visible so I went out on the pool deck to take some pic's and almost went for a swim ... not intentionally.

Gotta figure out how to do this night time picture taking! LOL.

(Zone 1)

Ok, my camera batteries just died but I got a couple of shots of a coleus and possibly a croton in the dark. Hubby has just put my camera batteries on the charger, says it will take awhile.

Here's a noid coleus

Loving these pictures and talking about blueberries. I eat no yogurt except for Blueberry Activia. Love those blueberries. No, Kim, I don't bake like Lin does so I will stick to the big fat ones for my granola.

Wish I could cook like Lin does.............

Aren't the night pictures fun to take.......so much brighter and clearer.......

(Zone 1)

I just want to know how Kim got the background to be so black in some of her pic's! Photo's look so much more vivid when the entire background is dark like that ... seems like the flower is jumping right out at you.

(Zone 1)

Gail, I forgot to answer you! I had never had taken any night time outdoor photos before I saw Kim's. I agree, they are so much brighter and clearer. I never realized how sunlight washes out the true colors.

DH found some new batteries and just brought my camera back in to me! I'm gonna play some more!

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Lin your night pics are awesome!!..your others are too of course but I just love how every color seems to jump out at you in the night shots..Uh Oh..Kim I think you started something now..LOL..we are all going to be running around outside in our jammies tonight with flashes going off in our yards..what will the neighbors think??lol....
Brenda..I absolutely Love your Columbines..the hummys here really like them..love the peachy one..never saw one that color before..all your plants are lovely.....

Nancy, those are such pretty lilies! I don't know much about lilies but love them. I have a couple of Stargazer Lily's that came up this spring but were really small and didn't last long - probably the horrendous heat! My Easter lily's were awful this year too. Usually they are tall and full and bloom for quite awhile. Only a couple came up this spring and they didn't last long. I have some Spider Lily bulbs I got in a trade and can't wait to see those beauties!

Do you cook with dill? I love it. I especially like to use it in home made soups!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Nice day lily and I , too, loved all the columbines that Brenda had. You all in your colder zones can grow such wonderful perennials. We can't even grow more than a handful of perennials which wither away when the heat hits.

I tried so hard to get pictures of the big fireworks when the kids were here and gave up. I just wasn't fast enough to get to the sky, but look what I did find today. I can't find the file............

OK....I went outside like you all did and took pictures, but I was too afraid of snakes to go around the house and get the pics of hibiscus, etc.........
The first picture is just to show you how humid it is here.......I have to wipe the lense of the camera before each shot because it fogs over immediately.

Lin, I just saw your post and I will tell you in a minute a great way to use dill.

Angel Exoticas last summer. Look at the green foliage on the Croton Andrew as it comes out this year........weird looking not being variegated
