A co-worker in Long Island, NY wonders why his strawberries start out tasting sweet but have a strange bitter aftertaste. He has asked everyone. The nursery said it was the topsoil he used. Any ideas?
Bitter Strawberries
Did he let them ripen completely? Or did he use any sort of pesticides nearby? Or were these seed-grown plants? If they were a DIY seed growing project they may not taste the same as the nice-tasting parents did.
They were ripened and not seed grown - purchased at a nursery. I will ask him about pesticides. Thanks!
