Red Tip Photinia

Albuquerque, NM

My Red Tip Photinia's are getting brown spots that are growing on most of the leaves. Can someone help me with this problem. Is this a fungus and if it is what can I do to cure it. Any help is appriciated as I am trying to save this plant.
Thanks

Entomosporium leaf spot, a fungal disease, has spread widely over the U.S. and is killing red tips much as Dutch elm disease wiped out elms a century ago. Is this plant less fewer than 10 years old? It should never be sold, particularly to people who live where the soil is alkaliine, such as most of the Southwest. Treatment with a fungicide might buy some time, but your best bet is to replace them with plants resistant to this disease. It is attacking Indian hawthornes also. The old standby Chinese photonia is a reliable and attractive shrub/tree, but can get 30 feet tall and very wide. So far, it has shown no susceptibility to this leaf spot.

You can go to Plant Files and find a lot of information. You can also D-mail anyone on there and ask them a question.

Sorry I was typing the same time dp was.
