Hello Walls=Faron Young. There was a funny version by "Ben Colder" whose real name escapes me. I have most of these on 45s or 33s. Had to go look it up, Glow Worm was The Mills Brothers.

And the #1 crooner and singer of all times in my opinion is Dean Martin. Little Old Wine Drinker Me, Welcome To My World and Everybody Loves Somebody to name a few.
And who remembers when on Thursday Night on T.V. his show featured the girls Gold Diggers. No talent probably but looks that would make the men folks hoping it would start to be a daily show.
Amee that is the name I was looking for, now I can get it from the library.
Oh Jim you have touched on a singer Dean Martin that I just love as well....what a hunk! lol
I have the Sam Cooke album that your talking about, and I love the Bobby Darin's album Mack The Knife( my mother's favorite), and love Dream Lover.

Aimee: You're right! I was thinking of "Hello, Darlin" by Conway Twitty. Yes, the Mills Brothers! They did several good ones, like Glow Worm, Paper Doll, Cab Driver. Frankie Laine did some good ones: Moonlight Gambler, High Noon Theme (Do Not Forsake Me), That's My Desire. You know, I think I have a Ben Colder album in my collection somewhere!
MaVieRose: Yes, there are so many great old harmony groups..don't forget the ladies! The Andrews Sisters, McGuire Sisters...and as long as we're on the sibling groups, how about the Everly Brothers! I think I have a couple Edith Piaf tapes here..I should listen to them again.
Boy, all you guys love your Sam Cooke! I have to give him another listen. I've got him on some mixed tapes & CD's but I think the only entire CD I have of his is gospel music.
I'd sure like to find some recordings of Hogie Carmichel doing his own songs..any suggestions?...WZ
Wind I'll try to tape the Dean Martin albums that I have for you and bring them to Tn. in June.
WG and MaVie ya'll are listing some great songs.
Some favorite funny songs of mine.
The Cock Fight by Archie Campbell
I'm My Own Grandpa by Lonzo and Oscar
One Piece At A Time by Johnny Cash
A Girl Named Sue by Johnny Cash
For the Grand Ole Opry fans out there I have a recording by the first star of the Opry. Uncle Dave Macon singing 'Keep My Skillet Good And Greasy'. Originally recorder in 1935.
Now that was before my time. Probable the only thing around other than dirt older than me.
MaVie yes I have always been a sap for love songs, and everyone one of the songs that you have mention above just brings back some lovely memories.
Love songs always got my heart ripped out lol.
I love Dreams Are Made Of This, and Everybody Loves Somebody Some time. I never missed one of Dean Martin shows, I love to watch his celeberity roasts.
Hey MaVie did you know that Louis Armstrong also sang La Vie En Rose?
Jim you are such a nice person and I do thank you for the offer but I won't be in TN this June, something has come up.
I remember I Am My Own Grandpa now that was a cute song, I also like A Boy Name Sue, and because your mine I walk the line.
I love Patsy Cline's Crazy, Walking After Midnight,I Fall To Pieces, She's Got You and Leaving On Your Mind.
What about Dire Straits Money For Nothing, Louis Armstrong's What A Wonderful World,When It's Sleepy Time Down South(mom's favorite)
"Jump Back you Honky Cat the change is gonna do ya good" that's from Elton John's Honky Cat. I love the song "Lost In The Fifities Tonight by Ronnie Milsap, MaVie now that is a love song that makes a woman feel like her man loves her from the bottom of his heart. I like Patti LaBelle's Over The Rainbow,On My own( with Michale McDonald), New Attitude, and Oh People.
What is loooovvveee, baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me no mo that is a few lines from the song What is Love by Haddaway.
Your remember that stupid movie where the two brothers are always bobbing their heads and trying to be cool. The guys from Sat Night live lol.
Georgiaredclay: I'll bet you remember Little Jimmy Dickens. One of my favorites of his is "Take an Old Cold Tater and Wait". There's an old Homer & Jethro song I'd like to find. I think it was called "Five Bladed,Nickel Plated, Pearl Handled Pocket Knife.
My dad used to listen to the Grand Ol' Opry, and I remember Uncle Dave Macon! I was just a young girl at the time, and I had a crush on a singer named Marvin Rainwater. He sang a song called "Albino the Pink-Eyed Stallion", and being a young girl who loved anything to do with horses, I thought it the most wonderful song I'd ever heard!
I, too, love those old Patsy Cline songs. I used to sing with a small band here in Seward, and I always had requests for Patsy Cline songs.
If we're digging up old romantic tunes, how about the Righteous Brothers: Ebb Tide, Unchained Melody, You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin, You're My Soul and Inspiration.
Windsurfer: You're not talking about Dan Akroyd and John Baluchi as the Blues Brothers, are you?
Gosh, I've got to get off this thread...I'm listening to Frankie Laine on my E drive while my DH is downstairs stringing more lights for my plant table...I could talk about music all day...We were singing on the last thread I visited...maybe we should start a cyberspace vocal group!..WZ
WG I remember Little Jimmy also. He was my favorite when I was growing up. I think it was the same name syndrome.LOL
However I am not that fond of him now that he has gotten older. I see him some times on the Grand Old Opry. You surprised me knowing Uncle Dave Macon. I though I would be the only one that had ever heard of him.
Here's something that I found a couple of years ago. There's a program that comes on T.V. on the religious channel TBN called Melody Mountain. It is hosted by Betty Jean Robinson. I was watching and some one mentioned that she started off in country music and was quite successful. I happened to be reading later on an album that I had of a country singer and lo and behold she was listed as singing a duet with this artist. I can't remember the artist right now without going and looking it up but I thought that was quite interesting and a little bit of trivia. It was a popular country artist however.
Wind what do you mean you ain't going to Tn. in June. I was looking forward to meeting you so much. Maybe things will happen that will change your mind. I'll try to get a tape ready anyway and if you don't make it I'll mail it to you.
No Weez it's not Dan Ackrod, I do love the Blues Brothers but the Movie was called A Night At The Roxberry, it just came out last year I think.
I have Soul Inspiration, You've Lost That Loving Feeling.
What about Blue Velvet, I also like the way Jean Almonds did it with his sax, now there's and instrument to make the ladies scream...wait a minute I think I'll swoon ooohhh!
Jim I am so sorry but it seems that too many things went wrong so I won't be able to make it, I would love to meet you and your wife. I just know we would have a wonderful time.
oops wrong forum. I'll "just walk on by around the corner"
