Coffee grounds for my veggies - advise would be appreciated

Lebanon, OH

I'm a coffee junkie - I pretty much drink a pot a day (I know it's not good for you but it's my only vice - well... one of the few vices I have)

I have Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Jalapenos, Bell Peppers, and zucchini.

I'm very utilitarian and I read/heard somewhere that putting coffee grounds around your plants are good for them.

Can someone tell me how to do this and how much grounds I should use on each type of the veggies I have listed above?

My garden soil is mostly Potting soil and compost until about 12"down where it is grey colored clay/dirt.

My veggies are doing very well. I just want them to do spectacular! :-)

Thanks for any advise anyone can give :-)

Oh,and I have 2 Eggplants also.

Thank you :-)

amy, I compost mine before I use them in the garden. I've heard you can use them straight though.

I do both - some composted some straight. With only 1-2 pots a day, that is not a lot to add to any garden, the soil composts it very quickly.

For a little more information, unfortunately, may garden is not fairing so well, and as explained while I thought it was because I was adding leftover coffee to my watering can, someone explained to me that it was my high use of peat moss that in fact caused my problem.

Good luck & good growing.
