I have a clump of jade leaves that fell off of another plant. I was hoping I can root it, but am not sure how.
Also, I have been reading about how great self watering containers are, but can I use one to grow jade in?
Rooting Jade, and can I use a self watering planter?
I think you can just stick the broken piece in the soil. I wuold not use a self watering container since Jade likes to be on the dry side. (At least mine does)
They root well in soil and moist sand. It's best to let them dry out for a couple days before attempting to root them.

Rooting hormone powder can help with succulent stem cuttings- but isn't totally necessary. If you plant on trying to do a lot of propagating, i'd buy some. You dip the tip of the cut end in the powder before planting.
i'd avoid the self watering pot with a plant that likes to be so dry- their roots rot easily without good drainage and drying out well in between waterings.
