In a previous thread I posted a picture of a trellis I built for my scarlet runner beans. Well, the beans have reached the top and are still climbing about 6 inces a day. The vines are leafing out and blooming and it makes a very nice gateway to my garden. I am pleased with how it all turned out.
Please post photos of your climbing/trellised plants.
scarlet runner bean trellis
Beautiful. I love climbing plants but unfortunately have nothing to post. Maybe when my cukes get going they'll make a nice picture.
Great looking trellis TMaple. Don't have anything to post either. Ditto on the cukes indy_v
I have a small area around my home totally encircled by chain link fence, and I am trying to add some green, so I have planted some Jasmine, Honeysuckle, and two Virginia Creepers. It has been two weeks, and they have settled in and begun to flourish-these are the first day pics, and I will get the current ones online as soon as I can see obvious growth. I can tell right now, but it doesn't look impressive just yet. I am really looking forward to a yard enclosed with greenery.
Very nice, Tmaple! How many bean plants do you have growing up each side?
Thanks for the compliments. Your stuff looks great gardenza, when it all fills in it will look even better. I am toying with the idea of planting clematis in the garden just for the beauty of them but I might look for something a little more edible and a little less permanent.
tucsonjill--I only planted a dozen beans on each side because I didn't want it too much like a jungle. I didn't want to have to fight the vines every time I went into the garden.
I have cukes growing up a trellis. I will try to get a picture posted of them too.
