Not sure if this is the right section to be in for this question??
I am growing flowering cabbage/ kale for the fall season. I have read and know I need to use a growth regulator chemical on these because if not they get leggy. Different website say to use the chemical B-Nine or Cycocel. Is this correct and if so where can I purchase this a store name or website would be greatly appreciated!!!!
thank you
growth regulator chemicals
Honestly I don't think too many home gardeners use stuff like that--professional growers will use them so that plants are still nice and compact looking when you buy them at the nursery but home gardeners typically don't need/use stuff like that. So I'm not sure if they're really available through retail outlets, I suspect they're primarily wholesale. But if you google the tradenames if there is a place that will sell them retail that's probably the best way to find them.
I believe ecrane3 is correct in that you'll need to establish a wholesale account and/or be licensed to spray the chemical(s) you're seeking. I've actually grown ornamental cabbage & kale for re-sale, and have used the growth regulator Bonzi on them. The reason I chose to use the product was the lengthy warm growing season we have here. The results I got from spraying were much less desirable than just waiting for better climatic conditions.
Unless you're trying to get plants suitable for early selling, I think with the right growing environment (i.e. cool nighttime temperatures around 55 degrees and 8 hours or more of sunlight) you can better achieve what you're wanting.
thank you nifty
