Summer Lilies 2008 Pt. 4

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Hmmm....doesn't look like the pics on line of Tango Honey Bees, but sure is nice! Love that yellow star in the center with the deeper colored throat.

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

This LA hybrid, California doesn't even look real! I finally got a good shot of it.

Nice gemini, it looks to have good petal substance too. Are the blooms lasting a long time?

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Considering the strong afternoon sun they get, they've lasted fairly well. They've been very fade resistant, but I think they would last longer with some afternoon shade. The substance is excellent, they feel like plastic!

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Beautiful lilies, everyone!! I just have a few left hanging in there.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Dogwalker, hang around, we can enable you to find some more lilies. :) Don't know who the one you have blooming is, but it is nice. :)

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

Steve, I'm surprised you still have lilies as fast as everything is bursting open here!

gemini, California is lovely, I haven't been impressed by the pictures of it so have resisted buying it. My DD would love it as she was born in California.

dogwalker, that NOID is lovely.

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Sure is a roll of the dice going from catalog pics, isn't it? Most years I get disappointments- blooms that just aren't up to par with the pics I've seen, but this year has been quite the opposite! I hadn't even chosen California as one I wanted to order, but a participant in the co op asked for it to be included. Now, I'm really glad!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

California is great looking! This one opened today and I have it marked Royal Perfume, but think it is probalby Orania. Is that what it looks like to you Not much scent. I bought them both at the same time. Makes me wonder if one of the ones I have marked Desert Song could be royal Perfume. Does anyone grow both Royal Perfume and Desert Song. Do they look a lot alike and bloom at the same time?

Triumphator opened for me this morning - YAY!

Everyone's photos are drool worthy....guess I'll be hoping for another DG Lily co-op next Spring!

Beautiful, jersey!

Susan ~ my Desert Song has been in full bloom for a few days now and it's really hard to miss. Very intense melon orange.

Don't know the name of this one as I'm new to growing lilies. A local greenhouse was selling "unflowered" stems last fall for super cheap, and I'm a sucker for a bargain. So unmarked and blossom-less, I planted them. So far only two have bloomed. The other, I'm pretty sure is a star-gazer.

If you know the name of mine, please share! :)

I was planting these before I knew enough to keep the names. So Lilies with no names.

We use them to sell as cut flowers. So I must go help with that right now!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Bernie you have some lovely lilies there.

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

Just my opinion, but I don't think Duck_toller's lily looks anything like Pink Pixie if you compare the nectary and the stigma.

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

pixie, we like the same color combos in lilies! All those blended pinks and yellows are gorgeous. That strong yellow noid is very nice too.

CG, I love your gardens! Nice to see some shots with lilies in the garden. Earlier in the threads Ticker was asking for pics of lilies in the garden, which has prompted me to to try and get some now that lily season is in full swing.

This shows Triumphator, Sorbonne, and Dynamite among all kinds of other stuff.

As the path leads to the Sky Garden, huge, nose level blooms of Altaville and a white OT who's name escapes me, from Faraway are the greeters. Further back the bright yellow blooms of Fata Morgana and big, soft yellow blooms of Conca d'Or.

Bernie,
Love your color combinations.

Gemini
Gotta have that California; will be looking for it.

Pard,
I, also have Peach Plum from Buggy for the first time this year and love it.

Moby,
Desert Song; have it from Buggy, but are there no spots?

Ticker,
I have pics which I will post but children are here from CA so will have to do it after they leave.

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Some OTs from the American series in the front of the bed and the bright yellow of Golden Sunburst in the back of the Butterfly Garden.

'Altaville' from Faraway is perfection-huge, rich perfume, and such a lovely shade of yellow.

Wow!

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

When I grew these 'Red Hot' in more shade at my old garden, they were more pastel. The color has deepened beautifully in this garden.
