Asking for permission....

Granite City, IL(Zone 6a)

(I forgot to mention when posting my question that if I ever actually DO sell any art I make with your photos (with your permission) that I’d be happy to send you a free high res. copy of that art for you to keep. You only need to let me know you’d want me to do that.) ;o)

Hello all,

I’m fairly new to DG’s and am really enjoying the time I spend here. It’s really a lot of fun and very informative too! One of my other hobbies besides gardening is digital art. I love taking a really good photos (high res) and working with it in my various digital software programs, turning them into ‘art’ works. With permission from the web site I’m posting on most forums (those I have access to) and asking for if I may use the photos posted in those forums. There are so many really wonderful photos and I would greatly love to be able to turn them into art.

For any of you that grant me this permission I can assure you that if I use one of your photos I will be more than happy to include you as the photos original owner on any finished work. I’ve been saying for years now that someday I’d like to actually try and sell my art work but as yet I haven’t even tried. I would like to some day. But for now I just basically play around with them and see what I come up with.

So if you don’t care if I copy/use your photos please just let me know in this post. And ‘thank you’ in advance to whom ever gives me their kind permission!

God Bless,
GrammyJo ;o)

Can we see some of your work?

Granite City, IL(Zone 6a)

Sure you can. I’ll post something within the next few days. I usually wait till I’m heading for bed (like now at 2:50am) to check email and forums I’m active in. So it will no doubt take awhile since my days are pretty full. But I’ll get something on here soon. It’s NOT anything professional looking at all, just photos ‘manipulated’ with various graphics editing software I have. So don’t expect too much! ;o)

ken33,

I tried uploading your ‘painting’ in a much higher resolution with no luck. If this won’t print out for you as nicely as you’d like you can send me an email address that I can use to send you a very high res. version of this same piece, that won’t have any copyright info for you to have to get rid of.

It's already 'matted' (framed effect) and once printed out on high quality paper should look really nice. If you do print it out I'd suggest a very good, high quality photo paper and ink and then hang it (or set it out) where bright light doesn’t cause it to fade. If you wanted to frame it I'd also suggest you create a tiny 'space' between the print and the glass to prevent any moisture buildup. I had a wonderful 8x10 professional photo of my oldest grandson when he was about 2yrs old (he recently turned 4) in one of those plastic frames that you just slip the photo in between two layers of plastic and later saw that moisture had somehow gotten into the frame and ruined the photo. That's why I suggest creating space between the print and the glass.

Hope you like it! I've got several other versions of the same photo but thought this one looked the most 'painterly'. I might decide to upload a different 'effect' sometime later on but would let you know if I do. Again, let me know if you’d like a much higher res. photo.

AND let me know how you like it! ;o)

You can use any of my photos as long as you give me credit and send me a copy of the finished piece.

To Grammy Jo:Hi.I just wanted to share with you that I am a newbie here and I do digitalized art too..but I take my own photos and "play"around with the picture it program I have.It is an enjoyable hobby with some starling results with some applications.

Mindalina, gorgeous picture! What kind of rose is that?

Plainfield, IL

If I remember correctly, this is an "Abe Lincoln"

Gosh, I haven’t been here for…… well it SEEMS like ages! Just checking in quickly tonight.

psychw2, thanks for the compliment. I wish that ken33 would check in and get his ‘painting’. So far I haven’t heard back from him.

Laura, thanks for permission. ;o) I’m sure that as you upload more photos there will be something I’ll eventually want to use. I thought your wedding photo was SO sweet! Your hubby is a handsome guy and you are such a cute couple. ;o)

mindalina, what a lovely rose photo! I have ‘Mr. Lincoln’. Is that perhaps the one you meant (it smells wonderful)? I’ve taken probably a hundred photos of mine and neither of my digitals (both very good cameras) seems to catch the actual deep red of that rose. It’s VERY frustrating! It always photographs more ‘orangeish’ (is that a word? ;o) than deep red.

Uekiya, ‘Hi’ to you too! Yes indeed it IS tons of fun working with photos. There’s so many fun things you can do with them, isn’t there. I take many, many (times many!) of my own shots too and use lots of them. But I’m limited by where I go as to the variety of photos I get (we don’t travel hardly at all anymore). Have you printed out any of your ‘works’ yet? If not do so. Just make sure the photos (or works) are VERY high resolution and use a good printer (I like an ink jet) and of course a very good quality paper.

Well all, it’s very late so I’m going to have to leave for tonight. Hopefully it won’t be so long between this and my next visit. Have a good one!

GrammyJo: yes, I try different papers also.I'm looking into a better printer that can print sharper at higher resolutions. The Canon Pixma is a professional one that I am thinking of buying. My pictures have raised an interest locally..so I would like to join an Art Gallery and try selling them.
One other thing I found was to save even deleted phots...They come in handy for background texture files and in some cases closeup abstracts.

Granite City, IL(Zone 6a)

Uekiya, you’re so right... those ‘bad’ shots can be great for backgrounds and I save many too. I really like those that are very badly blurred but have many color(s) in them. I have been using an ‘hp photosmart 7550’ for a few years now. In fact I REALLY need a new one since this one isn’t ‘behaving’ quite like it should anymore. But it’s a great photo printer and printing at the highest resolution you get AWESOME prints. I plan to get a new one very soon and it will be large format (at least 13in x 19in). Good luck with your plans! ;o)

If you see something you like of mine, go ahead and use it.

GrammyJo: Yes, Thats the same size (13x19) of printer output size I'm looking at.I like that size because the artwork turns out justr awsome!
Yes indeedy I did print some.
My sister has some on her wall.
Do you use put photo mats in your frames ?
I like the bigger print because it brings out the color also!I had an Hp Psc 700 series, but want a better DPI out putting printer.I just found out that the Canon Pixma 9000 or is it the 9500 is discontinued.I hope to purchase one very soon, as I've been researching this for some time.
enjoyable hobby eh?Nice to hear of someone else that likes the same hobby.

I sure wish I had looked on this thread before Labor Day. I bought an HP Photosmart C7250 not realizing there were other HP's for bigger pictures. I've been taking pic's ever since of my granddaughter and my yard and attaching them all over the forum.

Sandra D: I'll either sell my old Hp printer or give it to my sister.
Since i wanted better image quality AND bigger print size then the Canon Pixma is for me. It is a professional model and therefore pricey...so I'm saving my pennies.
It would be also handy to print newsletters and make presentaion pages if I need it some day. How's that for justification?Lol

And I had been comparing the cannon etc. etc. and Best Buy, Staples, Office Max and Office Depot all had printers on sale over Labor Day weekend. The sales guy at Office Max strongly suggested the what I ended up because I told him I wanted a machine that would print quality pics. Sometimes, I think, the sales people could use a bit more training. LOL I take pictures of this one every day. LOL

Sandra_D: Good one!Your future gardener no doubt!
You almost have to put camera on speed priority to get the motion shots of children.

Don't I know it. Here was yesterday's try, but then we had a Medical scare so I haven't been here for a bit.
