I've started some california wonder bell peppers and my seedlings are about 2 inches tall but havnt grown at all in about 3 weeks. They are in full sun and are nice and green and healthy looking but no growth. Does anyone have some suggestions to get them growing again?
thanks
Andrew
Slow growing Bell Peppers
I am a first time veggie gardener, but my peppers were started from seed early in this year and after they were planted in the ground, they seemed to stop growing completely for weeks! I went away to New Mexico for a week and when I came back (yesterday) I looked at the garden and found that the plants have started growing very nicely! Maybe yours will suddenly have a growth spurt as mine did! Good Luck!
Mine did the same thing. I bought some already started and I also started some from seed. Both just sat there for weeks, doing nothing.
Finally, they are growing. The purchased ones are now about a foot high and growing rapidly. The seed-started ones are about eight inches high, but they are growing again, too. I think they must have been putting down roots. I wouldn't let any peppers try to develop until they are at least a foot or more high, though.
My okra did the same. I started them from seed, planted them out when they had true leaves. Just sat there for weeks. Finally, they are growing now, too. I suspect it is the same reason -- that they were putting on a root system.
We did not have much of a spring, went from 70s to mid-90s in early May and has stayed there since, which may have been a contributing factor.

Thanks for thoughts! I hope they get going im afraid that they are going to have enough time to mature since our growing season uasually comes to an abrupt halt end of september/ early october.

My experience with peppers is that they barely grow for weeks and then when the weather gets hot they take off.
What temps have you been having, linux_guile? I found that they start slow at first then pick up speed.
My peppers have really taken off since we consistently reached the 80s here in MN. They went from spindly to very lush and full of blossoms and fruit in about 2 weeks. I actually have a couple of Islanders close to picking size already.
