deb - I wouldn't say I didn't even have to water today but then the rain gods would hear me and stop sending rain..so I'll shut up..yeah I know a first huh! LOL

Selma, NC(Zone 7b)

Now I'm jealous of the Agapanthus! But we got rain too :~

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

AGGGHHHHH, the rain gods are really ticked off with me. Areas all around us got several inches yesterday and we got skunked again. Our ponds are down several feet already. Last year we had some rain during the summer when everyone else was in drought situations; it seems to be reversed this year.

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

well with the storm brewing out in the ocean we may all very well get a good soaking before its all said n done ....we can hope huh....

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

Looks like Bertha is heading way out to sea and won't come close to here. I have Datura and brugs that aren't even close to flowering and I think that is directly related to water. I'm two weeks behind from last year on my peaches. They were all picked by now last year and I have yet to pick one this year.

Water water water. I really need to run irrigation around my back yard. You know if I do that it's going to rain for 2 or 3 years straight. LOL. If I do it myself it's a pain and if I pay someone it's fairly expensive. Never thought I would need to irrigate the back yard.

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

well if you really think it will rain for that long I would be willing to chip in on the cost of irrigating your back yard cause that works to my advantage LOL

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

I hope Bertha comes juuust close enough to give us rain. It's the same here Ardesia. I heard thunder everywhere - not a drop of rain.

It rained at my office (3 miles away) but not here at the house. Sigh. We have a total of 1/8" over the past 10 days.

Seabrook, SC(Zone 8b)

No hope of rain. :( My hedychium is blooming! But, I'm too lazy to go back out and take a photo. Here's a spinner gerber daisy instead.

Turk's Cap Pam Puryear. Got it at the Plant's Delight sale last year.

Have fun this weekend you guys! My will was weakening on going to PDN, and then I looked at my calendar and remembered that I had committed to judge a dog tournament in Athens, GA. This is the same tournament that last year my husband called me a "weird woman from California" in an interview to a reporter and that quote wound up in the story on the front page of the Athens Banner-Herald the following morning! Needless to say, he is banned from speaking to reporters this trip.

I thought my voodoo lily was going to bloom, but instead it sent up another leaf stalk. Maybe there were two plants in the pot. More to follow (I hope.)

Siam Tulip (Curcuma alismatifolia)

It's been rather dry where I am, so the yard is not looking good. Other areas nearby have had a lot of rain - too much in some places - but my lawn is dead and I've had to water a lot. Next chance of rain is Monday... maybe we will get lucky then.

Here's a few pics. First is an Adenium - very low-maintenance and they thrive in hot, dry weather.

Beautiful bloom pics, y'all! Jenny, we had a blast! Hate that you couldn't make it. Next year, perhaps? I just might be finished planting all the lovelies that I bought, stole or traded for by then, lol!!

Anytime rebecca;->

Would've loved to have been there!
This is a new daylily for me this year.

just got home from the PDN gathering....next time I need to plan on being at PDN for at least 3 hrs...I didn't get to see all the lovely gardens cause I was too anxious to walk the greenhouses! wow what an absolutely beautiful place to visit!

the BF did not water while I was away...afraid not to much is blooming now LOL

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

same here rednyr.....pretty sure I have a few casualties in the GH, I'll try and bring them back from the dead, but...not sure about that working too well

Selma, NC(Zone 7b)

Blooming today and purchased from PDN- a couple of years ago.

Hibiscus 'Red Flyer'

Pink Jatropha integerrima; this is a new one for me and I am really excited about it.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

This is one of the leftover plants from the SE Greenhouse growers conference. It is supposed to be a new introduction this year but there was no label so I do not have the name. It is almost fluorescent when the sun hits the flowers.

No flowers on this one but the leaves sure put on a show. I *think* the name on this hibiscus is Red Hot.

Another Iris that doesn't know it is not supposed to be blooming now.

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

chamthy...save us some seeds from that red flyer! All of these are extra purdy:-))

Selma, NC(Zone 7b)

Bev- I think it's supposed to be sterile. It's a hybrid between H. coccineus and H. grandiflora( which I bought at the same time). I do hope to get some seeds from the grandiflora this year. It didn't produce any last year but that could have been drought related. I need to post one of my foliage shots of it despite the title of this thread, lol.

Shari

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I have found Grandflora needs more water than most, I have almost lost mine several times because of the drought. It looks pretty pitiful right now as a matter of fact.

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Shari, guess it'll just have to go on the 'list', lol!

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Ardesia: With leaves like that, who needs flowers!
