I have several sempervivum (hens and chicks) that are getting ready to bloom, but haven't produced any chicks. Anyone have any thoughts on why? They're in mostly full sun, the soil might be on the clay-ey side for them. Thanks for any help!
hens but no chicks!
How long have you had them in the garden? You may just need to be patient with them. If they look healthy and they're getting ready to bloom I don't think there's a problem with your soil, etc.
I thought the "mother hen" dies after it flowers.
The parent plant will live for several seasons.
If you haven't yet, give them a weak to medium strength liquid fertilizer.
I'll do that. Thanks for the help. I'm a newbie.
