Natural occurrence of sacred lotus (Nelumbo nucifera)

Sacred lotus is of common occurrence in ponds and lakes of Himalayan region of India. It flowers during rainy season (July to August). Roots constitute commercial vegetable and finds place in marriage parties and high class feasts. common name for root is nadroo in Kashmiri and for the plant, name is napa in dogri (North Indian local dilects)
