Oregon vacation

(Zone 7a)

So, we're back from the Oregon coast area and I thought I would share the fun. We stayed in my SIL's beach house in Cannon Beach for a few days, then travelled inland to Keizer, where they live full time.

I'll start on the beach...

This is the view from in front of the house.

Travelling south along the beach, we come to one of the most photographed rocks in the world. Haystack Rock is a volcanic rock deposited from a flow several centuries ago that covered the whole area.

Shore-side of Haystack, are some tidepools. Lots of life in there. Crabs, anemones, shellfish of all types, sea stars...

Anemones.

Seagulls, oystercatchers and puffins nest on the rock. It's a preserve and well protected.

The town of Cannon Beach is very quaint. Everyone takes care of their property.

Travelling north about 5 miles, we come to Ecola Nat'l Park. You can park and take in the fantastic views.

The boy on the bench refused to get any closer. He loudly proclaimed they were the HUGEST beaks he ever saw! LOL

Our first sunset was amazing.

These flowers were in a few places there. Anybody know what they are?

And these were everywhere.

These I don't know, either. My SIL said they were dandelions but they're different than the ones in UT.

Going inland, we saw the prettiest rhodies. I must have these.

We went crabbing before leaving on our last night.

We caught a few but they were too small and went back home.

The ones that were big enough were female and released.

Didn't catch any keepers so we went to Mo's for good seafood. The view through the window.

Our stay was dotted with all kinds of sights. From horses...

...to artists (whose picture I somehow erased)...to pelicans just skimming the surface of the water...

kwanjin, Thanks for sharing this part of the country; loved the photos and brings back memories; we visited the Oregon coast about 7 years ago. Great job~

Our last night, we saw a whale passing by. My camera was not able to get good enough pics. A telephoto lens was ordered that very night! LOL

On our way out of town to head to Keizer, we stopped at an air museum in Tillamook. I'll post the highlights. All of these are working planes.

Darrell and his beloved F-14. He worked on these in the Navy.

There were lots of others and I'll post them if you request more.

Moving inland to Keizer, my SIL has beautiful gardens!
