Castor Bean at about 18 inches tall.
July flower pictures.
Ruby, you have been holding back on us! Your flowers are beautiful! Did you post any of the pictures of our Longwood trip?
I haven't been posting much, Dr.changed my medication, when she does that I get a window where I don't get as tired, so I have been baking cookies, weeding and on the go. Don't know how long this will last so I am playing catch up.
I took a picture of the street side of my fence, the weeping cherry tree and the pond are there and the blue building is the garage. We had to attach a white vinyl snow fence to the fence as my one little dog, Mary Chris, (Trouble) can get through the pickets.
Lady, Make hay while the sun shines. Your yard looks lovely and the white snow fence doesn't distract at all. Years ago we had a Doberman that could just glide over the top of our 4ft fence. Sometimes he would jump up and stand on the top board. I had to put poles up with chicken wire on them to add height to the fence. Stopped him from jumping out but looked horrible.
Ruby-here's hoping you got a good neighbor, at least there's still acreage between you. If I'm ever travelling that way I'll def take you up on that offer.
Chris, the fence looks great.
Lady, I think your fence is cute. Um, sure could go for some of those July cookies! What are those nice silvery large round leafed plants in the front of your border to the left of the gate?
Ruby, I love your Dianthus and Pansies. I would have never thought of that combination or colors.
I so envy canna growers. I only have 1 or 2 spots that they'd work and they didn't seem to want to overwinter there and I'm just to busy to be digging them up and replanting them. They are so beautiful.
Stormy, the plants are Silver Sage http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1075/
I grew them from seed, they are a nice plant, but if you use them as a border you want to cut off the bloom stalk early. They get to tall for the front of the border. Mine bloomed the 2nd year. I had seeds left so I started the ones in the picture this year.
The cookies I made were Pineapple Raisin and Oatmeal Raisin. We like soft cookies in this house.
OOOOOH, Pineapple raisin, I've never had those, sounds Yummy! That plant looks very interesting. I've never seen it before. The blooms look lovely too.
Thanks for the compliments ladies. Chris, I am just now spending a little time with my camera, so I am considering posting some of the pics from Longwood. If not today, I will try to post them tomorrow. I believe that I have a few that no one else posted.
Flowerjen, you are welcome to visit any time. My niece from New Jersey will be visiting in about two weeks. I have helped supply her new garden with lots of goodies, and told her to leave space in the vehicle to take plants back home after this visit. Someday, she will certainly put me to shame. She has two children under two years old and has all of her gardening attempts journaled and quite nicely organized. They bought a house where the front yard had been professionally landscaped but she is doing most of her gardening in the back yard. She tells me that things are coming right along.

Well darn! Finally took a few minutes the other night and grabbed some pics to share and having problems getting them to load this morning? If I get a chance I'll try them later, otherwise I'll attempt it again tomorrow morning :(
Did you ever talk her into joining DG? Of course with 2 kids under 2(what was she thinking?) she probably has no time.
Ruby, would you, or your niece, be interested in any Sea Holly? I have way too many seedlings here that I started from seed. What was I thinking!!!??? Your niece could stop by and pick them up on her way to your place. I'll send you a dmail of what other homeless plants I may have :)

the whole hydrangea is blue and this one lone bloom is pink :)
Here's a few of the pics I took the other night. Daylilies that are planted along the driveway and have been there for years so I don't have any IDs. I really like this one although I waited too long to get a picture and the colors are a little washed out now. Plus, by the time I took the pictures they were in deep shade and the flash kept going off - I was in a hurry and since I'm still unfamiliar with this camera I couldn't figure out how to turn off the flash :(
rcn48 - such beautiful colors!!!!
After a week in FL, I'm looking forward to getting home to see what is blooming there. I know they have had some rain so hopefully all the plants are happy. Would be nice to find some ripe tomatoes also.
Has anyone grown Birdhouse Gourds? I planted 1 plant just to have something to cover my trellis and it has bloomed like crazy. Wondering how many gourds I'll have.
Qwilter, I have heard sallyg speak of growing gourds a few times recently. She might be someone for you to speak to.
Sure thing Wind, for the Sea Holly. Never turned down a free plant. I will dmail you Angela's phone number.
Ruby
Oops, sorry Flowerjen, I mentioned joining Dave's to her but she never said yea or nae. She did ask in an email yesterday how things were going in Dave's Garden. I will tell her that you asked about her.
Ruby
RCN, Your lilies and flowers are incredibly beautiful. I showed your Ohio Haul photo to DSO as he's always griping about my To Be Planted collection!!! He's finally starting to work on making me a potting bench.
Qwilter, if you think HD is cheap for plants, check out Lowes, they're even better and usually have a nicer selection, which changes weekly.
Here's Crocosmia Lucifer.
That's the Crape I want to get.
Jen, I needed the color against the all white expanse of that side of the house. There are 2 of them there. 3 years ago they were single stem 12" high sticks. They're now over 8'. I got them for $3 each on Ebay.
Jen, The leaves on that Crape turn a very bronze color. They are turning now.
Gotta love ebay
Last one for today - 'Duke of Durban'. Lilies are just starting to open so should have pictures soon. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend - my daughter and her husband from Maine are arriving today for a short visit so have to find something to keep them busy while they're here, other than gardening :)
Beautiful pictures to start my day Stormy and Debbie. You have some very interesting plants Stormy. I loved the two reds.
Ruby
Stormy, I bet that white Lily of yours is Casa Blanca http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/48948/
It's a pretty popular white oriental lily and HD would certainly carry it.
And I really need to add a Crocosmia Lucifer to my garden!
Isn't it gorgeous Chris?
Ruby
