Geesh, they are digging through everything. I've heard garlic may help? Has anyone tried this, or have any other advice?
How to keep squirrels out of my planted/potted flowers?
I used to put bird netting over the tops of the containers, or you could use poultry wire or something too, then they can't dig.
Hot Pepper! I saved my clematis this year with hot pepper. I buy it in bulk and sprinkle everything. I have even had the little critters plant nut seeds in my potted plants. Imagine my surprise when I found walnut trees in my planters. I should have as much luck getting things to grow. They do not like red pepper or anything with that hot spicy flavor.
Place one or two mothballs unobtrusively on the pot. Don't water the balls as you don't want the chemicals in your soil. The smell is a deterent to rodents.
Do you reapply the hot pepper after rains and watering?
I think I will try the hot pepper in the planters, thanks!
Yes, I periodically just pepper everything.
