peace lilly

Cincinnati, OH

Hi there. I'm new... I bought a peace lilly the other day from Kroger's... it was a huge plant for $10.89 so I was happy. However, some of the leaves are looking rather wilted at the bottom of the plant.... I've only watered it once since I brought it home. and the blossom part of the plant is green, not white? any suggestions? Thanks

I think the green bloom just means that the bloom is older. As they age, they get green. Is it wrapped in foil? If so, there's no way for it to drain, and maybe the wilted leaves are from being overwatered. If not, then it might just be the natural progression of the plant, and you can cut those leaves off as close to the soil as possible. Good luck!

These plants like to be misted all over the foliage as the like shade and a humid atmosphere to grow well, they also dont like to be transplanted into too big size of pot, I would stick my finger into the soil to see if the soil is too dry, if so the plant needs watered if wet, it needs more drainage, they like a good drink of water then drained of all the excess water so the roots dont sit in a pol /saucer of water for long periods of time, dont sit the plant in direct sunlight either indoors or outside as the leaves are easy to burn with the strong sunlight, dont have it indoors too close to a window or heater/cooling unit for the same reasons as dry heat causes the same browning of the foliage as direct sunshine through a window where the sun is magnified,
when you water the plant, give it some liquid indoor plant feed, I like one that has seaweed extracts as this helps leaf and flower to grow strong, but dont over feed it either, about once a month and your better adding half the dosage than too strong or you will burn the roots, other than that, maybe your plant just needs time to settle into the new environment you have just given it, even the journey home from the store can shock a plant and it needs time to recover, but do the finger test first of all as what was said before about the foil or no drainage holes in the bottom of the pot could be the first place to start with, good luck, WeeNel.
