Today's Weather in Your Garden - 24

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Very humid and thick air around here. Only 68 degrees but you would guess much higher. Overcast and grey, no wind. If the sun comes out it will be really unbearable I think. Just walking around the garden you turn into a puddle. Yuck.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Temp 79.5, Rh 56%. ☺

Very humid, sunny/ hazy skies.

- Same guy Laurel, the author of Black Holes & Baby Universes and Other Essays/ A brief History Of Time. I've read some of his published stuff too.

June 14 2006
"Associated Press is reporting yesterday and today that scientist Stephen Hawking while lecturing in Hong Kong, cautioned that the survival of the human race depends on its ability to find new homes elsewhere in the universe because there's an increasing risk that a disaster will destroy the Earth.

Hawkings thinks that humans could have a permanent base on the moon in 20 years and a colony on Mars in the next 40 years."

Been a fan of Hawkings for a very long time, but I think his prediction will not pan out.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Shucks, didn't look online... ☺

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Wind has shifted to the easterly flow, big change in air mass. Much drier right now and the sun is shinning. This front is supposed to wobble up and down all weekend. Nice to be on the drier air side right now. Another hour from now it could all change again. :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

85 and about 50% humidity.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

We seem to be getting enough rain so far this year, but it only lasted 2 minutes, and only 1/8 inch. Sunny and humid now.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Just had our daily downpour.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

It's pouring buckets right now!
I hope everyone made it back safely from Kassia's RU before the rains came.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

And yet another big one here, too.

(Zone 4a)

I know here in Ontario Canada we do get some wild electrical storms which are just awesome to watch! I mean you wouldn't really want to be hit by anything but part of you still wants to go and watch them.....just tonight we had a great lightening show along with thunderous noises but yet no rain! Amazing! Funny thing (or not so funny) my dad was actually hit by lightening about 10 years ago....first signs of any storm and he is in the house asap!!!! He had blue fire shoot out his finger tips! Amazing eh?!?!?!

Has anyone here from the states seen the Northern Lights? Now that is something to see......Come visit Canada - I promise you won't be disappointed!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Never seen 'em, they must look real nice up there, less light pollution up there than here that's for sure! Should look real nice with dark skies. ☺

(Zone 4a)

Yes they do but even "I" haven't seen the extend of their beauty - either I have been in bed or I just missed them - I have seen parts of it and all I can say it is awesome from what I have seen!

Shower coming through, 62 degrees. Another typical day with t-bangers and a scared dog.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Same here and it's humid as well
I hate it when the temp and humidity are the same.
This front will be with us all week.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning, everyone!
We have T-storms coming for sure, Sherrie. And Jo Ann, our humidity is almost twice what the current temperature reads!!

It's cloudy ... very cloudy, and 62°.
Wind: 0 MPH right now, but just wait about half an hour
Humidity: 100%
Dewpoint: 57°
Pressure: 29.83 in. and falling

It's gonna be another wet one for today!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Dawn, I've seen the Northern Lights twice in my life and they are beautiful!
No rain at Kassia...as a matter of fact it was hot!
It was drizzling when I entered back into Maine and it's a soft rain and 57 this morning. Dreary anyway you look at it!

I have seen the Northern Lights twice back in the late 80's and I think in September or October like 2-3 A.M. I can remember it was cold.

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

70°
97% humidity
Overcast with rain on and off all day. Chance of severe TS. Seems to be all we get lately.

It won't stop me from putting all these great plants in the ground!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sunny, 80 and humid. 'Drenching storms' in the forecast. Heard that many times the past few weeks. Hope we actually get some.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I was out in the garden all morning... a bit humid but I can deal with that when it's not too hot... then the rain came... i took a nap so I am not sure even how much we got

:)

looks sunny and gross out now

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

87.4° Wind SSE 6.2 mph. ☺

Still sunny & hot here!

Mockingbird nest in my front yard, 9' off the ground. What's interesting is that there are 3 mockingbirds guarding this nest. They take turns going in and out of the nest in which they 'dissappear'. the other 2 do not let as much as a squirrel as close as 15' from the base of the tree. I suspect the one inside cannot see out of the nest so the other 2 keep a very, VERY close vigil, guarding ground as well as 'airspace'. ☺
