What's wrong w/my green pepper plants?

I bought 2 nice plants about 2 weeks ago, planted them in some large plastic pots filled with topsoil. Now the leaves are filled with brown spots and falling off (although it looks like I might be getting some new growth coming out of the bottom). Any ideas what happened?

How much do you water them? When I planted my Bell Peppers they did the same thing at first. Now there fine.

Could be transplant chock, heat stroke or not enough watering, finger test the soil and see if they need more water or less, if the top soil is caked hard at the top, then the watering you are doing will be running off the top of the soil instead of down to the roots, most people that use ordinary garden soil for there pots usually adds some compost to this so that air and moisture is kept in the soil for longer, good luck, WeeNel.

It sounds like my peppers are doing the same thing. They looked wonderful until a couple days ago- then it seems over night they took a turn for the worse. The leaves look sad and are falling off, all around the base of the plant are the little buds that have also fallen off. They look dry to me but I have been feeling down in the soil and it does not appear to be too dry. The bed is mulched and seems to be draining good and i have very little weeds. I have been watering every couple of days depending if we get rain. From another page - i read that they might be lacking in magnesium sulfite in the siol and it was recomended to take 1 tbls of epson salt with a gallon of water..... has anyone tried this or heard of it? Also, I am growning my peppers (red, yellow and green) in the same garden as my tomatos - there are several feet between the plants but could the tomatos being robbing the peppers of there water supply? I have also been fertilizing with compost tea (made in my compost tumbler) but this is my first year of trying to be "organinc" - could I have bad compost tea? Could I be over doing it? I have no idea how much or how little is enough...HELP ME!!! =)
