Blue Girl Roses - petals and leaves are browning, help!

Stafford, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi, I planted a Blue Girl about 2 months ago (grafted, with about 5 well established canes), and I've had about 4 blooms, but the petals are browning around the edges, the leaves are browning and curling up as well. They are getting water, but maybe not enough? Thanks for any help you can give me!

It looks like a touch of Botrytis blight, are you in an area that got a lot rain? Or maybe you are over watering. Only water at the base of the plant. If its becoming worse you will need to spray with fungicide.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rosebuds fail to open and are covered with a grayish brown, fuzzy mold. Open flowers are flecked with yellow or brown and lower petals are wilted and brown. The stems below infected flowers become discolored.

Botrytis blight, also called gray mold, a fungus disease that spreads in moist air and cool temperatures.

There are no chemical cures for blight once it occurs. If symptoms appear, cut off and destroy all infected plant parts. Spray with a fungicide to keep the disease from spreading.

Thanks so much, yes, we have gotten more rain in the last 2 months than I can remember. However, the ground does tend to also get very dry b/c in between rain we have 100 degree weather. I am a novice, so I am trying to find the right balance between watering enough and overwatering. I saved the internet site you gave me, it looks very useful. I will probably go ahead and prune away everything that I see that is affected and spray as well.
