recently we had to pull all the caryopteris from a property due a disease /pest we have never seen before. In the lower part of the stems, the bark was cracked open by what appears to be massive formation of adventitious roots, so numerous as to qualify as a "witches broom". The leaves above were contorted and wilted. Can anybody help me? googling caryopteris just gets you lots of references to how disease free they are!

Maybe this will help http://www.mobot.org/gardeninghelp/plantfinder/Pests.asp?genus=Caryopteris&care=Caryopteris%20x%20clandonensis Lynn
This site loads very slow.
