Grass is brown (dead???) over septic tank area.

Rome, GA

The grass over my septic tank area has turned brown. I now have a rectangle of brown (or dead) grass that is very visible. Does anyone have a suggestion as to why it turned brown in this area and what do I need to do now?
Thanks.

Is it a new area? Ours was like that when we bought the house 4 yrs ago, we had soil delivered and have been overseeding every fall. Looks great now

No, the house is 7 years old. We bought it this past November. The problem with the grass has just shown up. I didn't know if maybe I needed to provide more water to the area or just what to do. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

It SOUNDS like a water problem. The dirt is not as deep over the septic tank lid and would tend to NOT hold water as well. I wonder if you sprinkled some of the water crystals over the area whether that would help. I've heard of other people amending part of their grass that does not get as much water with the crystals and its been very successful.

I agree with psychw2. Deffinately a water issue.

In addition to water crystals, try using a fertilizer with "Summer Guard." Scott's makes a good one. It helps retain water in the roots - it's great in drought conditions.
