What are the differences between them?
Can they be inter planted?
Can they be grown in containers?
?s about Japanese Iris & Louisiana Iris
what the difference is I know not, but the japanese Iris is better grown in the ground as they need a long time to bulk up and I am not too sure that pots and the small amount of soil in them would be too good for them, most Iris can be planted side by side unless you have some that like particularly damp soil, hope someone else can help you better. good luck. Weenel.
From what I've read and from what other DG members have told me, Japanese Iris need almost bog-like conditions and acid soil. I'm just now experimenting with them so they're new to me.
Louisiana Iris need really rich, well watered soil, but not as much as JI's...from what I've been told anyway...they will grow at pond MARGINS, but I think JI's will grow in standing water.
Try posting this in the IRIS forum...there's a lot of members there who collect both and could advise you better.
