Help identifying a very common plant I saw in Southern Calif

Hello... I have been unsuccesfully trying to locate the name of a very common plant that I saw all over Southern California on vacation over the web and thought I'd try here. The leaves look strappy like a daylily, but the blue/purple flowers don't look daylily. Thanks for your help!
