I want to propose a new forum for miniature or fairy gardens

I've seen posts of these gardens, scattered in lots of different forums(garden art, container gardening, terrarium gardening, etc), but feel they need their own place.

Is this where I would do it, or can someone point me in the right direction?
Thank you :0)

Fantastic Seed. I think that is an excellant idea!!

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you. Is this the right place to post this?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I'm new at this so I really don't know. Maybe someone will read and help us out. I repeat, it's a wonderful idea. Thanks for posting this.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds interesting, we'll have to drum up Judy, (Seedtosser1) she has a miniature village started up, not sure about fairies, but know the gnomes are visiting..

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks Betty for leading me here.

Seedpicker, if you wanted to start just a chat thread, this will be fine. But if you suggest a new forum totally, under what listing should it be...like perhaps "Leisurely Pursuits"?
Then you might have to ask admin. if that's possible. If there's a large interest to warrant such a forum, I'm sure admin. would look into it.
I myself would like to start a whimsical fairy garden. Got 2 gnomes so far!

This sounds great. What about on the arts and crafts forum? Or trash to treasure? I hope I can keep up with y'all. I want to start making yard art for my little fairies and gnomes. Heck I want a whole village! I know they must be out there. I hear my dogs barking.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

me too! me too! you girls can't have all the fun without me!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'd love to see this happen. I too am planing a Fairy Garden in the future, and would love to read and see pictures of what others have done.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you all for your posts, and for your interest. Send other mini enthusiasts this way! :0)

I just emailed admin and made this proposal directly to them.

Hope it happens! Mini gardens and fairy gardens sure seem to be gaining popularity. Especially with all the great miniature alpines, and "stepables" now available.

Lol...well all those new stepables and tiny sedums, make it so easy!

I'm way past 7, and I still think they are neat :0)

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Ya'll got me goin' in circles!! I'm in, I'm in! But first I gotta get me a gnome! Then I'm gonna make him a door, then I'll think of somethin' else!

Columbia, MO(Zone 5b)

Great idea! I would love to have a fairy/mini garden forum. Have not gotten around to it but I keep bookmarking sites that have them. Like this one -- http://www.miniature-gardens.com/

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Yes, yes, yes, mini fairy gardens would be so much fun. I've got so many things I want to do it's hard to know where to start. Had to put a hold on everything and take Sami, mini-schnauzer to vet. Seems she loves to munch on fox tails. An expensive thing to do, hoping the infection will clear up and no more problems. My mini-schnauzer isn't so mini so she will have to stay out of my garden. Gnomes are top priority right now, waiting for a visit from Staynot.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

I've bookmarked a lot of neat sites, too. I would be fun to have a forum, so we could all share with each other. :0)

Here is one that gets a beginner going:
http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.fairyvisions.com/fairyday/_graphics/garden/141703817.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.fairyvisions.com/fairyday/fairyhomegarden.htm&h=400&w=533&sz=96&hl=en&start=19&tbnid=hqcbmU98J5f01M:&tbnh=99&tbnw=132&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfairy%2Bgarden%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4SNYI_en___US258

and here is one that has excellent pictures of theirs(professionally done), and they also sell a lot of the little cute stuff to go in them.

Oh! This is such a cool idea! How cute! That would be so awesome to have a forum just for creating miniature garden scenes!

I love what you created Seedpicker_TX! Very, very cool!

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Yay!!! Becky :o) We all need to make little fairy gardens doncha think??

Columbia, MO(Zone 5b)

Sami, I hope the pupski is OK and learns that foxtails are nice to play with but not so much to eat. Let us know how everything works out.

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Course as usual, I get in on things after it
s all gone down!@!! lol Are you talking forum or thread? Would it be too much for one thread. Wouldn't a forum be good? All kinds of stuff have their own forum, then threads on it. Once it gets going , one thread might not be enough? Couldn't Dave's put you up a whole forum if enough people wanted it?

I'm sorry, butting in again.!!! Zipping my lips, but ya'll know my zipper doesn't work too well.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Well, we have 2 threads about it now, and I can't(hic} keep up with them both!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LorraineR you really aren't all that late on this. If I have understood the thread correctly so far she is asking for it's own forum. Like Audrey, I am trying to keep up with both of the threads. Wouldn't this be a great idea?

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

And then admin could move those 2 threads to this new forum!!!! :-) :-) :-)

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep, they can do anything they want to I think. I know they've moved things and deleted things that I couldn't cause it won't let us. They can remove a thread so I don't know why they couldn't move a thread.

Is there already a forum? If there isn't , I think someone has to get in touch with them and then if they think enough people want it, they will open one. I guess go to"contact" and tell them what you want to do and that there are lots interested. I think they do like a poll.

A whole forum would be great, cause there will be so many things to talk about

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I found the other thread and it is a little confusing but I think now I have figured it out. Go back several post and she says she is posting this request on the garden art forum. I think. Yes, would be good to have it all in one place.

How is the weather in Sebastian?

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Hi abbisgranma! Hot, hot, hot here! Were is Havana, FL???

So the threads are on the Garden Art Forum? Or are they somewhere else? I wanna read those threads! Can someone give me the links?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Okay, I goofed--says she is posting on the garden forum. That is the other thread people are responding to also. This is the first thread she started.

I do hope they create a new forum. Agree loads to talk about and share. I would love to do one of the gardens!!!!

Actually I'm not really in Havana (no idea why we have that address) but closer to Quincy. About 3 miles west of Tallahassee on I-10 and 4 miles north on US 90.
Its hot here also but not as bad as in Tally. We are in a very wooded area that has been kept as natural as they can and still have development. Really like it here. Was in Gainesville previously.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

hi all.

This is the very first place I posted the request for Minatures and Fairy Gardens to have their own forum.

It was suggested for me to reqest this on the more appropriate forum "Dave's Garden" forum. So, I then went and posted here:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/865603/

Many of the links to other fairy or miniature threads(but certainly not all!) are listed on my old thread here(towards the now current "bottom" of the thread) in the Garden Art forum.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/743757/

The list on there doesn't even include the very popular "henk" threads about his travels(now on Chapter 3!), and all the other threads that are related to it.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/563428/

Once again, odd that it would be in garden art, but really no other better place currently to put it...

I would so love to see a new forum for this. It would be so fun, and would become my new favorite forum :o)

By the way, those are not my fairy garden pics I posted. Those are examples of other peoples work. I have an entire folder of these, that I've been collecting for inspiration to do my own.

I've already got a teeny garden bench, watering can, and just bought some tiny bonsai trees and bushes.

I also have a lot of those "stepables" and tiny sedums. I can't wait.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I'm in for this one - I am thinking Leisurely Pursuits as I have started one at my leisure and it is gonna take a lot on my part to pursue finishing it LOL! What an enticement seed, what are those flowing plants in the garden?
