This is my patio China doll, which started out as an ordinary-sized houseplant. I moved it outside on the advice of my sister-in-law, and now it's grown so tall it's bent where it's touching the ceiling! As near as I can tell, this monster is about five years old. It recently started growing a shoot from one of its two trunks (posted as a separate picture); I'm so excited!
Monster China doll
Very nice plant, NerissaCA, really lovely!
Yes, the China Doll will definitely grow tall if given the chance. And, there is even one photo in Plant Files that shows the bloom! I had no idea this tree bloomed! My sister who lives in South Florida had one for over 20 years as a houseplant that got very tall. I have a smallish one out on my back deck that needs repotting badly. They will sprout new branches along the trunk as they grow.
Here's the link to Plant Files with information on this plant: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54477/
Wow, that is impressive!
I've tried this plant a few times, and have never succeeded for any significant length of time! Too many plants competing for good light in my house during the winter, I guess.
Good growing!
Oh, it's beautiful!! I've killed several..... but maybe I need to try again.
