Another Indigo Bunting shot that I just aimed and clicked and got it!

Yeah, you gotta be quick on the draw with those titmice...they swoop in, grap a seed, and swoop right back out again.
Nice pics Nanny
I like woodpeckers but they never come to my feeders. I have to catch 'em up in the trees

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

That first shot of the bunting looks exactly like the shot I almost got. He sat on a dead branch high up.

Marlton, NJ

Great shots guys!

Knifophia, I love the baby coot!

Nanny, I'm like Rose; I won't be jealous of the Pileated! :-)

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

When I stopped by the pond yesterday, a couple of the Bullocks Oriole babes were at the top of the nest, hopping about and very noisy when mom would come in w/ food. I knew they were soon to fledge, so I went back later and found this one several feet below the nest.

I'm posting this one to show how dangerous the nesting area could be to the babes. People fish at the pond and frequently leave lots of tangled monofilament behind. It's often used in nest building, and I fear the babes might get tangled. Each time I go there I pick up discarded line from the ground and bushes. Much of it gets hung up in the tall trees when casting. The town didn't participate in the annual parks clean-up a couple weeks ago. Such a pity.

Very true.

Send a copy of the pic to your town authorities and ask them to take part in the future.

Great pics everyone!

We went to the park again, but it was noonish, and aside from a few ducks, most of the birds were wisely hidden away from the sun. So nothing new to show today.

But I'm enjoying everyone elses. :D

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh my stars! Tiger that is awful and it is very dangerous!

PERTH, Australia

knophofia, the baby coot is just gorgeous. Both nice shots and I'm not being smart when I say the water looks really fluid.

Nice pics, Nanny. The colour of the Indigo Bunting is breathtaking.

That is one of the scariest bird environments I've ever seen, tigerlily. Unfortunately there are people out there that don't know or simply don't care what happens when they discard things. I have a practice of never leaving the beach empty handed. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not nicking things from people's bags). I know a lot of people who practice similarly and take other people's rubbish with them when they leave.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

HA! That would be a funny sight Margaret. Just pick up someone's beach umbrella and walk off with it.

Have you been watching me Marna?

Just had this bad pic ID'd as a White-eyed Vireo...so another new one! He is way over to your right...almost out of the pic!
