Your Mystery Plant is Dracaena Marginata: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/732/

Berkeley, CA(Zone 9a)

I have two of these plants (now identified as Dracaena Marginata). One is about four feet tall and healthy, the other one, not so much. The shorter, less robust one is by my patio door and shedding leaves like crazy; could it possibly be stunted by drafts? They are both getting the same amount of neglect, however.....

NerissaCa: Most plants don't like draft's, hot or cold, so that could very well be the problem with your plant. You might try moving it to a different location and see if that works. Does the one that is healthier get more sunlight? They do like bright light and can take sun to partial shade.

plantladylin: Good point: the healthier one is definitely closer to an open window than the smaller one. I'll take the smaller one to work and see if that fixes it. As Plant Manager of my office, my room is starting to look like a jungle with all the plants!!
