An American Dipper looking for lunch.

Looks like the Dipper should be swept away, by the rushing water.

The salmon fry was delivered to the nest, on the bank, above the creek.

Fun shots, wallaby and albertcat.

Grassmussen, I saw a documentary about Dippers on TV about 20 years ago and was completely spellbound by these incredible little birds and their ability to manoeuvre underwater in such fast flowing streams. Am I right in thinking the babies hit the water running (or swimming) as soon as they fledge? Great images.

Marlton, NJ

Nice shots wallaby,adel and Gary!

Those dippers are incredible!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Nice shot of the Dipper.

More of a funny pic than anything else - white egrets on a flooded road.

Thanks Margaret and pelle.

Nanny, nice shot of the Eastern Phoebe, almost like a water colour painting.

A pair of Swallows were on the electric cable today preening. This is how wide they can open their mouths!

A jackdaw landed on the electricity pole, as I looked across to the pergola I saw the female Great Spotted Woodpecker had stopped by. Got a quick shot as she noticed me by the side of the house and flew.

I didn't have the camera set to a fast enough speed but got this at 1/800 second.

She headed for the electricity pole, she hadn't had her nuts yet! Wings in ready to land, I left it as a fuller pic as it wasn't well focused.

Now what does she do, just wait and hope I disappeared but I didn't!

The direct stare! I was still there and she was not happy!

Well, if they don't want me to eat their nuts I will sneak back another time!

Very cute GM!

Great pics everyone!

Heres my first look at one of the juvenile Red-bellied Woodpeckers.

Jane, the Quails are so cute.

Wallaby, the Woodpecker is so lovely. It is certainly making its feelings known in the direct stare shot.

Grandmaggie, the baby Cardinal is very sweet. Does it already have a hint of the adult colouring? It looks a bit russet-coloured.

pelletory, the Woodpecker is gorgeous. Great shot. Do they nest in your garden?

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I love baby pics!

We also saw this Lazuli Bunting (a new bird for me) sorry about the poor quality but the bird was in the shade and didn't stick around very long.
