The female Great Spotted Woodpecker visited today, she has no red on the head. It was funny to see all the birds flood in, they know the woodpeckers drop lots of bits. One bird saw a bit dropping and jumped high into the air to catch it!

A few of them fly across over here for the winter! There's often one or two offshore in Druridge Bay in winter. They're called Great Northern Diver over here.

I spend a lot of time at the creek watching the activity near the willow thickets. This American Robin is getting ready for his bath.
This little Downy happened by.
Wow on those shots, Tiger.
Twice a flicker landed in an apple tree just across the creek, but I could not get the catchlight in his eye.
Purple Finches also came to bathe.
American Goldfinch visit the thicket many times daily.
(does he look yellow? my monitor always shows them very washed out looking)
I encountered this cutie on the way down to the creek. She's so tiny, I thought she was a very young thing herself, so I was surprised when I saw this on the monitor.

oooo, she's a mommy!
No pics yet, but we've got at least 1 Robin egg outside the backdoor at work. it is in the backside of the wooden stairs that lead up. I sit on the backsteps everyday and whenever someone walks out the back door the robin flies off. Today was the first time that she seemed aggitated that I was sitting there. I have a 1/2 hour lunch and she came back near and yelled about 4 times. That's what made me look in the nest and it's the first time I was able to see an egg. I told everyone to limit the use of the back door for a while. Luckily there is only 6 of us. And I'm going to have to find a new lunch spot :(
Off to Quebec City to see some metal birds flying around.
