My boyfriend has this plant and I have not been able to find out what it is. Plus it keeps getting dried out spots, almost looks like it sunburnt. Can anyone help?
Plant?
It could be Colocasia esculenta.. Black Beauty or Black Magic. Check in Plant Files to see if that is what it is.
I don't know the name, I thought they were in the EE family. They sell this plant at our local Wal*Mart. I can check for you if you don't find it in plantfiles, but I think you'll find it.

Looks like Alocasia, possibly this one? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53992/
edited to say: There are 80 Alocasia's listed in Plant Files: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=alocasia&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=SearchIf it's not the first one I listed maybe you will find it amongst the others there.
