How to rid maple leaves growing in lawn

Bergenfield, NJ

The wind scattered the seeds of a hugh maple or oak tree onto my front lawn. I 've been trying to rejuvenate my lawn and reseeded earlier this spring. It was growing beautifully, but, aahh!! now I have these things interspersed in my new grass. Can I get rid of them w/a herbicide? If yes which one would you recommend? I tried to manually pluck them but there are so many of them. How did this happen. This didn't happen in years past so why now? Thank you.

Crazy windy weather more seeds than I've ever seen, I just hand pluck them all. They won't grow too tall if you keep up with your mowing. I'm not sure about any weed killer. You'd probably have to spray them individually anyway so you don't kill the grass.

This spring has been the worst with thousands of baby seedlings - I'm forever pulling them out of the beds - glad that just mowing takes care of the lawn.

This is the second year those darn maple seedlings are popping up in my flower beds.

If you don't mind using a chemical spray in your yard, a broadleaf herbicide will kill the trees but not your grass.

I have tons more maple seedlings than normal this year as well. I spent the better part of two hours yesterday afternoon pulling & pulling. Short of using a chemical that's really the only way to get rid of them!
