I live in Texas so it's HOT HOT HOT!!!! I got a plant as a birthday present and all that it says on it's label is FOLIAGE. I've had it about a week and the leaves are turning brown. What am I doing wrong???? Is it suppose to be in direct sunlight and how much do I water it? If ANYONE knows PLEASE help............
I'm a beginner at this.......Please HELP ME!!!!
Could you take a picture? Is it a houseplant? Or do you have it out side? How often do u water it?
bre
Immediately bring the plant into the house and give it water (not cold but room temperature.) I would recommend it be placed where it gets difused light. Watch it closely for signs that it is getting better. If so, keep doing what you are doing. It is probably an indoor or shade plant and doesn't like hot sun. I would ask the person who gave it to you, what kind of plant it is or where they got it. Then you could trace back to the seller and find out exactlyu what it is and how to care for it.
Are the leaves brown and crunchey or brown and soft? Is it rootbound?
My guess is even if it is a plant that can live outdoors, it probably came from the houseplant section at someplace like Home Depot, which means it's been indoors and would need to be gradually adjusted to higher light levels and temperatures outdoors. I suspect the leaves are turning brown from sunburn since the plant wasn't used to strong outdoor light. But you will need to take a picture so you can get the plant ID'd, otherwise it'll be really hard to tell you what conditions it will like.
